Perp is an interesting character who is also insane (His best idea: the best way to deal with Prisoners, launch a cow from a catapult, if it lands a odd number of yard away, kill them. Even number, let them go free)

So why does his alignment work the same way as everyone elses, shouldn't it be controlled by a random insanity thing? (I'm sure a religion wouldn't change his decision to throw his pet poodle from the tall tower) He could do some noble things (even if on accident)

I think he should get a random alignment when his traits change. Sorry if this has been talked about already.

I'd much rather him randomly have a diplomatic bonus or penalty towards each player whenever his traits change.

In FF with Broader Alignments I'd say his broader alignment should swift back and forth, but changing the overall alignment seems like too much. I can't really picture him being good, but he seems a whole lot more Neutral now than he was back in Patria.

Whether he is good or not, we can at least be certain he is the chosen of gods.

As we all know, gods speak through dreams, insanity is a sign of their favor.

The alignments are based on their patron angel's position on the Compact, yeah? What I'm getting at is: How closely is Perpentach related to Mammon or the Stewards? Can we take Mammon's greed to mean self-indulgence? The Balseraphs exist because of Perpentach, who exists because of Kylorin. When or where does Mammon fit in? The mind magic?

I think it would stick as evil simply because his lack of concern for human life
Basium are angels, and they don't care about humanity. Still, they're qualified as good.

I would say he is Extreme Chaotic Neutral if we would go by DnD's alignments. But in FfH he is very much Evil.

I agree with Magister, I'd also like his Diplomatic bonuses and penalties change. And him to randomly Demand or Help someone.

Like turn 10 he demands Mysticism from you. Turn 50 he gives you Crafting and Exploration for free. But ONLY if they start doing this to each other (the AI).

Basium are angels, and they don't care about humanity. Still, they're qualified as good.

Good in FfH is usually means they oppose and fight the Evils.
In DnD Alignments if you are selective you can describe it too;
Lawful good is known as the "Saintly" or "Crusader" alignment.
Taking the Crusader part to the Extreme. (Also true for Bannor)

He did release Beeri Bawl, and that qualifies as noble in my book. while he might not have meant to be nice, he did still do something even a good nation wouldn't have

I dunno ol perp reminds me of Batman's villian/friend Two Face. Beeri was release because "fate" made the determination. Though I would go with the Extremely Chaotic Neutral. And for Basium, there is a bit of Honor in his Crusade to deliver creation from evil. I kinda had my opinion changed about him when I played him (and read his thoughts at the beginning of the game) in the Lord of Balors Scenairo. No spoilers from me though you will have to play it yourself if you all haven't =)

Wait, you have to beat a scenario tht hasn't come out yet to play that...you haven't CHEATED have you...?

Umm, it is out.

This is why it's important to keep your game patched up to date. :p

ME CHEAT NEVER  :mischief: No I got bored waiting for them to unlock it so I went and played it manually. Its in the assets folder under scenarios.

He is most definitely NOT Chaotic Neutral in DnD. CN characters are selfish to a fault and put their own interests first, but would never go out of their way to cause another harm who has not already harmed them. Perp would have to be classified as Chaotic Evil because his insanity leads him to cause others harm on a moments whim.

A better example of a Chaotic Neutral character would be the Witcher's Geralt of Rivia or Han Solo in the original Star Wars.

Actually chaotic neutral could mean everything.
As long as its in YOUR interest its fine.
You don't care about others so its fine to hurt them as long it benefits YOU.

So Perpentach is still Chaotic Evil then, he doesn't get any benefit out of hurting others, he just does it because he feels like it....

He does get the benefit of being virtually immortal, but still evil is is as evil does. But the reason I said I could agree to him being Extremely Chaotic Neutral (per AD&D terms) is that I remember reading some were (mind you my AD&D days were about 10 years ago) that the insane would be classed as Chaotic Neutral. I think this was because though their action may be class as evil, they were doing it unintentionally. I don't think that would apply to Perp though...

But he could also shower them with gifts and doesn't make him good.

Perpentach doesn't do everything randomly and on a whim, he's got a lot more intended actions than you'd think. His behavior certainly throws everyone off, even those expectant of his insanity.

Right, but sometimes he does "good" things and that doesn't make him good.

I'll agree, having him change his alignment/diplomatic stance and randomly gift/demand stuff every now and then would be nice. make him as insane as possible :D
