I need information on what the opinions of a Peruvian Native during the Latin American revolutions would have been. I also need information in general about the Latin American revolutions, preferably Peru. If you have literary sources (primarily books) that would be the best. Many thanks.

What do you mean by "latin american revolutions"? The independence movement?

I mean the revolutions in Latin America against the colonial powers that resulted in independent states. So, I guess yes, the independence movement(s).

Um...believe it or not I have access to extensive Latin Americans at my university. I can poll a number of Peruvians if you wish. Just give me the questions. Btw, I think it would better to focus on the Peruvian Revolution. There were so many independence movements in Latin America, that addressing a subject so large would be unwise and rather generalized.

Peru is a rather unique case in South America because, together with Bolivia, they're the only countries with an amerindian majority.
In most of LA the indians were for the most part indifferent during the independence, in fact many if not most didn't even understand what was going on. In Peru things might have been different, since they are a much bigger share of the population. I could probably do a little research on the subject, many peruvians go to my Uni, though I doubt they know much about the subject.

Thanks both of y'all. I probably would change the topic to focus on Peruvian or even Andean revolutions, but the topic is assigned. What I really need are literary sources. While the opinion of modern Peruvian natives would be interresting, the topic is to adress the situation from the point of view of a Peruvian native at the time of the revolutions. Where I am (Chicago) I have access to some of the best university librarys, but I know that some of you, such as luiz, may have access to more sources since they are in the region. Thanks for any help you can give me.

So...you want either: autobiographies, case studies, surveys, polls, and/or biographies exclusively about Peruvians at the time of any revolution? Is that correct?

I would liek any books, magazine articles, etc. that deal with the topics of Peruvian natives around the time of the Latin American revolutions, the Latin American Revolutions, the Peruvian revolution, and the Andean revolutions. Or, starting points to use for research would also be very appreciated.

Well, anyway, if you want Peru, you´ll somehow get San Martin of Argentina (who had "liberated" us and the Chileans from Spain before moving on) and Simón Bolívar of Colombia/Venezuela.
