Sign this Poll if you feel that the "trading posts" look ugly and should be changed to the "growing towns" feature like in Civ IV.

We loved the "towns" feature in Civ IV, and we don't understand why it got replaced with this ugly feature.

example of those thrading posts: the circus-like tents spammed all around

Visually they are an isor......an invasion of carnivals but alas, it is too late for any change this late in the game.

trading posts as a concept are ok, just change visual so that they don't look like a circus

I think it's best not to demand changes in game mechanics until we see how they actually fit together.
I think it's mostly about the eye-candy aspect (and every builder loves to see his/her towns growing and slowly merging with the cities). ;)

Frex, I would love to have growing towns, even if the growth is a purely graphical eye-candy, with no actual gameplay effects!

Cheers, LT.

It is not a change in the core mechanic, but rather on its visuals. Towns makes way more sense than trading posts, so to speak, so I agree with the OP.

People always make polls without properly saying what they mean or giving more than 2 choices

This poll should have looked like this:

1) I like the new trading posts, which don't grow, both visually and from gameplay.
2) I want the growing towns from Civ4 back.
3) No growing is ok gameplaywise, but those tents look ugly!
4) Could we have tent graphics, but a growing mechanic? (I doubt anybody wants this, just for the sake of completeness ;))
5) I don't care about the topic!
6) Why don't we wait until the game is released?

I said "yes" in the poll and mean my #3.

I sort of agree. It doesn't make much sense to have "Trading Posts" all over the place. I liked the cottages.

Still, much better than the minespam from Civ 3.

I love this trading posts :). Who is buying things in small towns around New York or London? No one! Trading posts in modern area can be those posts on freeway or trade events(fairs). But, today everybody buy in supermarkets. Even in Croatia people stopped going to this fairs or whatever do you English speaking people call this because food is cheaper in supermarkets. Than trading posts should become supermarkets or malls;). This with malls isn't a bad idea when you think about that:think:.

I don't think they're that ugly, but I like the name "Town" better :p

And I always fancied the "growing" mechanic, but I'm not going to pre-judge the decision to let it go before I've tried it.

At any rate I'm guessing someone will mod this pretty quick.

Isn't it the same is there tons of towns or trading posts. It's the same. Both look ugly. They should made it smaller perhaps, but everything else is big too. Horse pastures occupy big space. Towns are on try tiles and there is more tiles than in civ 4 as I have concluded and maybe you can't spam everything like in civ 3. Spammed cottages didn't look ugly to you when you saw them first time?
