Phone company data mining article wrong??

It would seem that the article that revealed the evil Bush admin. and NSA were getting calling records from phone companies was full of lies. Some of you were so quick to condem the Pres. and call foul on the mispercieved infrigments on civil rights that you got hoodwinled, bamboozled
and taken for a ride. The media has an agenda. And the liberal medias agenda is to discredit the Bush admin. regardless of facts.

Note that the article says the companies deny being involved in such a program. That doesn't mean it didn't happen ; if I were an involved corporation, I'd claim I didn't do it, seeing the kind of backlash this has seen.

It doesn't mean it happened, either. But let's keep in mind Verizon and Bellsouth are hardly unbiased sources on this issue - they have a big stake in claiming not to be involved in that mess.

All I know about MSNBC is their Stem-Cell reporting, granted. And they're certainly biased against stem cell research. I guess 'right wing' might not be accurate in that case.

I don't know about where you live but by me there is only one choice in phone and thats Verizion. They can do what ever they want its not like most people can hop on over to some other provider because there is none.

allthough the USA Today article may be wrong about Bellsouth, the EFF lawsuit clearly has evidence against AT&T for at least data mining, at worst, wiretapping.

No they can't, they still have to abide by their privacy and other contracts, or they can be sued for breach of contract, which is exactly what Verizon , AT&T and Bell South are looking at right now.

You can't just give your customers phone records over to whoever asks for them, even if it is the US government, that is clearly stated in their privacy policies.

If you do, you are doing what illegal spyware firms do.

I personally think CNN is pretty fair and balanced myself from what I've seen. They did a whole series of stuff on the border and they really did tell both sides of the story (a ranchers property that was constantly being stolen and vandelized by illegals and illegals that talk about coming from lame places to get money and apparently the money DOES help a great deal for their families).
