Pirate Warlord

For me the greatest experience is getting Chemistry early, building Privateers and blockading my opponents. Not only does their commerce suffer (sometimes big time) but I also get some money out of the things (4 or so on average for each city you blockade, since I always send two they roughly pay for themselves).
They also do get that interesting sentry promotion which comes in handy when you upgrade them to destroyers.

In fact I'd love some modern pirates:satan:

I like this too.... except that I need to turn my speakers down when I do it...

Yeah and it takes ages to recalculate trade routes :p

Anyways I'll try using a warlord for them in my next game.

Has anyone tried putting a caravel or galleon with your stack of privateers? Can the computer still attack the privateer even though it's in a stack of units from a country that it's not at war with?

That sound is LOUD! I have basically given up on listening to the game after I get a few Priv's out there. Who's idea was it to fling coins at me every turn?

Actually it's a cool case of a phenomenon called interference. Since all of the coin sounds from all of your privateers are played at the same time, the sound waves will add up to a much higher pressure and therefore the loudness will increase a lot :mischief:

I suppose the sub could function like a modern day privateer and allow you to attack people without them knowing it's you.

Even if your ships are in the same stack because the way privateers operate (no flag of allegiance), another civ unless your are at war, can move into the same square to attack them.
