When you are in a pitboss game, how can you tell who is logged in and who isn't?

What does the star next to players name mean?

The star means the player has ended his turn .....

Yes, you can tell who is logged in. You just hit Alt-N when you're logged in and it'll show the Pings of every player and show Disconnected for anyone not logged in.
