Plans for DoC 1.16

Did anybody suggest the following game event before?

Viking AI get army to attack France in 911, and get army to attack England in 1066
(The same way Greece and Roman AI get army to attack Egypt)

It will make medieval games more interesting, will it?

That seems too railroaded...but Viking raiders, possibly even Viking national troops with a WarDec during the early medieval era don’t seem that far-fetched

In my medieval games Vikings are too friendly: they always open border and tech trade.
It would be more realistic if they declare always war until conversion to christianity.

The issue is that in game terms the Norse conversion was so early that it makes almost no difference to the Western European experience. Now, say that the French spawn is pushed back (has it been?), then Norse raiders in the 9th-11th centuries could be significant.
 
Just a quick update here that I consider the feature development stage of the lategame branch concluded, and will now let it run for a while so other contributors can work on their aspects for it (like merijn's colony viewer) and to catch and fix any issues that may arise. I will now focus on the develop branch and take care of the dozen medium to minor issues that have been reported for it over the last couple of months.
 
I have updated the opening post detailing three unplanned features that will also be included in 1.16.

With the publishing of the uniqueunits branch, I will again take some time to address issues in develop and work on merging the lategame branch.
 
Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but is there an estimated date for when 1.16 is released?

Im just about to download the game again as I miss it (I deleted a while back as I was playing it too much ;o lol).

Id like to make sure Im downloading the latest version.
 
That's the only valid reason to delete the mod :D

I mentioned earlier that a release before the end of the year may be possible but I hit a slump recently (and had quite a lot of distractions), and there are still a lot of bug reports left, so not sure.
 
Ive just deleted it again as I was playing it too much, again lol Looking forward to the new version, which no doubt Id then have to delete again from over playing lol
 
The Turks. The opening post literally says that. They have their own section and everything.

Maybe instead, the vikings could be encouraged to found a city in scotland or england to represent danelaw before the English spawn.

Could work, but technically speaking the Danelaw lasted after the English spawn, with the last gasp being Cnut’s North Sea Empire at the beginning of the eleventh century.

EDIT: And Harald Hardrade even after that; with slightly different circumstances he could have been ruling over all of England.

True but that could be represented by the vikings conquering england after it spawns.

This is not the right place for this suggestion. Leoreth announced plans for the 1.16 ages ago, I doubt he will suddenly change those plans because someone wants him to. However, there are many past and ongoing discussions on which civs to add in future versions in other threads - see the suggestions and requests thread and the "What other Civs would you like to see added to DoC" thread. There are also mod mods that add various civs, including South Africa and Australia. Maybe try one of those?
 
Not to mention that I mentioned countless times that I won't add further civilisations until the rise and fall code has been rewritten.
