Players for New Epic Game Wanted

I agree with no formal alliances. The game should not be about teams fighting each other.

Nukes should be allowed, and I like the idea of mandatory peace at the beginning to prevent rushing.

Wednesday and Friday should work fine for me, but if we're only going to play once a week, Friday would be better, although I would rather play twice a week.

If everyone wants a 'no war allowed' period, we'll need to agree on how many turns.

Given some of our player's schedules, I'm not sure we'll be able to make this game run on set days. I was hoping for that, but one or two people seem to have more fluid schedules which won't allow it.

Speaking of fluid schedules, I'm working a couple day shifts this week - I'll see how things work out with sleep, I hope to still make the games.

(btw, I posted my steam id somewhere earlier in the thread).

Hope to see you all in a little under 26 hours from the time of this post.

I got this message when I searched for Urrumi, Kevin:

No group or player records were found matching your search terms.

Hmm, that's weird, I'm positive that's my steam name.

Kevin, you should try to be friends with us from your own. Or just log in and check your name! :)

Me and Onan have talked about playing a little game(it's 9h48 pm now here) in approx 6 hours. Pittbalz should be there.

Keven i sent a request to Urrumi via steam and it is added (under the name Kufu ?) waiting 4 ur confirmation

countdown is 5hr 45min according to my watch see u all there :)

Count me in. There's a slight a chance that I might miss it because of the time.

Just under 3.5 hours from the time of this post.

Not 'a little game', but the launch of our epic game.:dance::bday:

(This is just the term 'ladder' players use to refer to playing the whole game through, with other humans. It also bears no relation to game speed.)

That said, looks like we'll have 5, which would be very nice. I'm happy to play our first game on quick speed, but if everyone would rather run it on standard, that's fine too. I think the others are to be avoided, at least for now.

Start thinking now about any map/civ/settings/etc preferences you may have. We don't want to burn our whole time just setting the game up.

Um, this looks to me like your watch is about an hour slow, based on the time of your post and comparing it with forum time and my post...?

8pm in New Zealand I believe is 6pm your time, Meso.

Hopefully we'll all get it right! :crazyeye:

i suggest a (small)pangea map with med sea level to get some interactions fast between us but letting enough space for those who are not used to mp dynamic(rush, land blocking, etc.) and to let the NC start viable...or something. Maybe we just can set a number of turns of always peace too. At quick speed we can finish easily in 2 sessions. Standard can be fun. How about level of difficulty? Emperor is nice. Barbs are even.

Okay, well, bit of a rough non-start there for our first attempt. Apparently Meso pulled a classic AM/PM screwup with his alarm clock.

We will start the epic with 4 (or 5 if kevin shows) on Saturday at the same time--assuming this time is okay for everyone. I think it might not work for Tabarnak.

The warmup game was fun. Very impressive play, Tabarnak. Brenador, after you left, meso turned up and took over China. And shortly after T left, around turn 81, I took Shanghai. Then we got stuck when some fools joined our game, so Beijing was spared.

Sorry about that... I tried to have a 'nap', it turned into a 12 hour snooze. I was more tired than I thought. Glad to hear the first round went well!

(And yes Meso, that's my steam handle)

Should be ok for Saturday. I don't think i will have some important things to do when i will wake up. For friday it's impossible.

I'm fine with Saturday, and I think that the period of mandatory peace should be 100 turns, if we're playing at Epic speed. The game just isn't fun if you get conquered at the beginning.

Yep, I'm good for Saturday. Hopefully KevinJ as well. Also, another player, Ardan PL, may join us. I played him in a couple duels last night. He's in Poland, but he thought the time might work for him, and he seemed interested.

Um, I strongly suggest we play at no slower speed than standard. Perhaps I should rename the thread.... And, to timer or not to timer? Probably best to have it on I think, though I have to admit not having it on was kind of nice in our warmup game, and wasn't a problem.

Also, I forgot to mention: I'm actually off today, unexpected holiday. I'll fire up Steam and see who happens to be around...

I may not be able to play Saturday. My girlfriend want to do something around noon(6 hours later...:crazyeye:) and i have to awake first! I don't want to be tired for all day because i have the biggest hockey table tournament for the year in the evening with big cash prize for the winner. It's playoff time and i have to be ready.

Edit : If everyone has spare time on saturday, can we just play earlier than usual? If i play like 2-3 hours earlier, i can certainly play a game that day(1am-2am for me).
