Playing the scenarios

I haven't seen too much posted about the scenarios. I just won a game of 1066: year of the viking destiny at the immortal level and played as the iroquois and won at the warlord level. according to the global stats on steam, not many are successful at either. if anyones interested in hearing how, just ask. i'm not a good/fast typist and don't want to waste my time if there's no interest.

That's odd... when I played, Iroquois were not part of the 1066 scenario, nor was there a Steam achievement for them for that scenario. However, perhaps you can change the civs (don't think I tried that).

I think not many people go for the achievements in any case. Only 31.3% have beat the game on a continents type map. Only 5.8% beat the game on all victory conditions.

I wonder whether that is because a lot of people play offline, or most people play the game 2 or 3 times, and stop playing.

In any case, of the subset of players that still plays this game religiously a year after release, a subset of that buys the DLCs, and of that subset of a subset, an even smaller subset plays the scenarios.

Too bad for them, I think the new world scenario kicks ass.

But isn't that also because people (well, me at least) quit the game as soon as you know you're the strongest/most advanced/whatever and have practically won the game but aren't bothered to finish it off?
And it could also be because people are using a mod, in which case achievements aren't counted.

In any case, it's not because there aren't that many people playing, as Civ5 is quite continuously in the top5/top10 of games with most players on Steam.

Yeah, I think the scenarios are great, can't wait for new ones :)

Could be that people like to play with mods. I know I have a hard time playing without infoaddict and advanced notifications. So I get no achievements.

for the OP:

The strategy forum would be a better place to discuss the scenario strategies.

there has been a few posts, not to mention YouTube videos, about them though.

My favourite scenario is still the New World Scenario. You can play it in so many different ways, it rarely gets old.

You should never trust the population counter on the Steam page to construct a hypothesis on how many people are playing a specific game.
