I have a really strange problem,

It began when MSN Messenger 7.5 locked my pc and ever since I cant use my webcam anymore. Furthermore, I get an error-message saying messenger performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. But as long as I don't press a button in that window I still can use messenger the normal way.
And now another problem surfaced: I can't reach some internetpages. My blogspot.com account is unreachable as is every search engine.

I hear you all thinking now, your pc is screwed up by either a virus or spyware. Thing is, I scanned my pc with an army of antisoftware (AVG, AdAware, Spyboy S&D, SpyDoctor etc) and my pc turns out to be clean as a virgins bedsheet.

The only forum I have access to is this one (I can't google for specialist fora) so pleasssssssse fellow civfanatics, help me on this one.

Oh by the way, I don't know if these problems are related to each other.

try uninstalling msn messenger...and then re download it. that might help. Make sure u restart between the uninstall. might do nothing but it cant hurt. There was also that msn messenger virus that fubared yer system.. i was going to say try an online virus scan, but u cant.

A new Internet worm is squirming through Microsoft Corp.'s popular MSN Messenger chat network, anti-virus vendors warned on Thursday.

The latest threat comes follows October's Funner worm attack and signals a growing trend to use instant messaging as a delivery mechanism for malicious activity.

According to an advisory from F-Secure, the new W32/Bropia-A worm users MSN Messenger to lure users into downloading one of the following files: "Drunk_lol.pif"; "Webcam_004.pif"; "sexy_bedroom.pif"; "naked_party.pif"; or "love_me.pif."

Once executed, Bropia-A also drops a variant of the Rbot backdoor Trojan. Rbot represents the large family of backdoors fitted with the ability to control a victim's machine remotely by sending specific commands via IRC channels.

F-Secure warned that the bot can also be used to hijack system information, log keystrokes, relay spam or steal sensitive data. Bropia.A can also disable a mouse's right button and manipulate Windows mixer volume settings, according to the company.

Sophos, a Lynnfield, Mass.-based anti-virus firm, also issued an advisory for the newest MSN Messenger threat, warning that an infected computer will attempt to spread the worm to all active MSN contacts

thats one of the msn viruses, try contacting msn about this. they might have a fix for u.

Nope, that didn't work. And I can't download msn from microsoft, so reinstalling isn't an option. It simply gives a page not found error :(

I don't want to reformat my pc again, just did it a month ago and it wasn't all that pleasant.

Oh, BTW, every program which uses the internet (skype, p2p, news tickers, browsers) they all work. The browsers only can't open certain pages

do you have a repair disk? if so use it. other than that I think a format might be your only option.

You should still have the .exe that you downloaded to install it, unless of course you deleted it.

You can uninstall msn using a program call xplite
(removes msn entirely via uninstall)

I downloaded msn messenger from a friends computer and mailed it to myself, so I will install it when I'm back. Could MSN really be the cause of me not being able to google? (or to lycos, or to yahoo, or to altavista....)

By the way, both my pc's, behind the same router, have exactly the same problem. Do both my pcs have the same problem or isn't the problem on my end?
