Please help me solve my problem

I just built a new computer so I would have one fast enough to run Civ and now my cpt shuts down after about 5 minutes of playing. I play BTS, but it happens with both BTS and regular Civ 4
My Specs.
Motherboard- Elite Group A-M770(audio card intergrated)
RAM- 4 gb ddr2 800
Graphics card- EVGA Nvidia 8600
CPU- AMD Athlon 64 dual core 4000+

What I have done on my own
Replace thermal grease on heatsink
replace fans
reformat
reload civ multiple times

I have been emailing the manufacture site this is what they have had me do
Send them a Direct x report
disable background software
run game in compatibility mode
non of that worked- I have also updated my drivers- on everything and installed patches and checked for updates for civ

Please Please help me

are you monitoring your cpu and gpu temperature?

for GPU, Riva Tuner should work.

I have done all the tests- I haven't been keeping track of temp. on CPU or GPU. I will try that, what should it be- how will i know if that is my problem- overheating is what i thought it was too, but after I put in two new fans and new thermal grease on the heatsink and it still was shutting down i thought it might be something else.

I tried another 3d game and it worked so thats out- where can i get a cpu gpu tester- if my temps are fine does that leave powersource as the only option
