As the thread in OT was pretty popular... I suggested a thread about Pokemon games here in Other Games.

Discuss Pokemon games here whether it is via Visual Boy Advanced* or not.

Here is my team on Leafgreen, I'm in Cerulean:

I'm going to fight Gary, get up the route, get all my pogeys to level 18, fight Misty. :)

I remenber trying to fight Misty.

Her Water Pulse Starmie was painful because the only two pokemon I was training at that period was a Mankey and a Charmeleon.

So after 2 losses I went up Nugget bridge. Caught 3 Oddishes and face Misty again. Each Oddish can survive two Water Pulse.
The first Oddish posioned it. Then fainted
The second Oddish Absorbed it. Then Fainted
The third Oddish absorbed it again. Then Fainted.

So by the time my Mankey came out, it was weak enough for one Karate chop to knock it down.

Awesome.

My Emerald Game. Defeated the Elite Four Already.

Hehe...

I have Lombre though. Ludicolo has IMO the best type set in the game. Water/Grass, plus high defenses and HP so an attack like Thunderbolt won't do much because most electric types are to weak. Only real weakness is Flying and Ice.

Water types are resistant to Ice. The part Grass makes it normal to Ice.

But it is weak to bug and poison moves along with flying moves. Ludicolo has good stats. But I can never bring myself to use one because
A) Ridiculous looking
B) I dislike using Grass Types
C) There are Better Water Pokemon. Like Lanturn. If Lanturn has the ability Volt Absorb, it is immune to Electrical attacks. That makes its only weakness Ground type. And Lanturn can outspeed a majority of Ground Pokemon. A single Surf would do them in.
I see your Ludicolo and play Lanturn.

Forgot about that... So hehe.

Bug and Poison types tend to be really weak pokemon though. So only real threat is Flying.

Meh, we are playing Pokemon, who cares about looks?

and why? Besides I consider him my water pokemon, since he will surf for me.

Ludicolo can probably beat your Lanturn. Ludicolo's defenses are so high that it will take Lanturn several times to defeat him. In that time Ludicolo can use grass moves, like Giga Drain to gain back health. I haven't came up with a final moveset for Ludicolo yet, but Solar Beam is also an option, guaranteed to hurt Lanturn bad.

If we were to take average speed, Ludicolo is slightly faster and would move first. I agree that Ludicolo's high Spf Defense and moderate Hp would make it ridiculously annoying to kill. But my Lanturn has both Thunderwave and Confuse Ray.
So say Ludicolo use Giga Drain (or TM 53 Energy Ball) on the first turn.
It would hurt Lanturn bad, but with Lanturn's Moderate Spf Defense and High HP, it can survive the attack.
I would then Thunderwave you, making you slower.
Then next turn I attack first and throw Confuse Ray.
Now there is a 25% Chance you can't attack, and a 50% chance you hit yourself.
There is a high chance you will be unable to attack and even hit yourself.
The rest is just a determined attack of Thunderbolts, which can kill a Ludicolo in maybe 3, 4 turns. If you keep hitting yourself, even less.

There is another version that also uses Attract.

=D.

So the battle would depend on luck basically.

Also, If I use Solar beam, and manage to hit you the first turn, and start using Giga Drain's, and manage to hit you, your a goner. :p

Solar Beam takes two turns. You would basically be letting me win more easily. Though I admit my strategy depends on luck.

Then again the sensible thing would just be to switch to Crobat and Fly/Sludge Bomb your duck.

Yeah, but that's basically like saying, "If lightning would hit you in the same place twice you'd be dead." :p

Than i'd change to my Alakazam when you start to fly.

The possibilities are endless!!!

I just started a Leafgreen game, with Charmander. My roster consists of Pidget, Ratata, Metapod (evolved from Caterpie), Pikachu, and a Mankey -- all at level nine. Right now we're training the Viridian forest: I intend to use Butterfree's Confusion and Mankey's Fight-type moves to take down Brock.

I started a Gold game the other day, I'm in Eukrateak right now, but haven't bothered with the gym yet. I know what that Gengar is like, so I want to be ready.

My team:

LV 20 Magmar
LV 21 Gastly
LV 22 Flaaffy
LV 25 Crocanaw
LV 25 Golbat

The freakin Golbat just won't evolve. I've had him since LV2, he's never had a status effect, never fainted, had repeated haircuts...he just hates me. :(

I think the rest of my team will eventually be either a Heracross and a Steelix, or I may discard Crocanaw for a Poliwrath, and then I may go with either Steelix or Scizor, and then...something. Whatever comes up. Maybe something awesome like Jynx.

Spoiler :

Good grief why do you have that abhorrent Lanturn in your party? Just give a Starmie or Lapras Thunderbolt and watch the destruction reign.

There is a reason why I love confuse ray.

50% Chance you smash yourself!!

Lanturn has a high HP and good stats. Best part is, it can learn both Confuse Ray and Thunderwave. It's meant to be the annoying piece of crap you can never hit. With Volt absorb, and water type, the only true type I have to be afraid of is Grass Type.
Plus, water-electric Combo. STAB boost on both Sides.

And... You can't get a Lapras in Emerald.

For Starmie, I already have a Psychic on my team.

Started a new Sapphire game today - a Normal-type monotype run (like father, like daughter, you know). Current team is:

STARDUST - Zigzagoon - Lvl 14
JUNG - Slakoth - Lvl 11
MILLICENT - Taillow - Lvl 14
BRIAN - Whismur - Lvl 14 (named after Brian Blessed of course)
TRIXIE - Skitty - Lvl 14

Just beat Roxanne in an intensely thrilling (read: incredibly boring) Tail Whip vs. Defense Curl/Harden staring match. Skitty is as hard as nails.

Absol is a terrible pokemon unless you're playing diamond/pearl and as a result moves can be special or physical regardless of type.

Terrible? It is one of the best in the game IMO.

Extremely high attack, and very high speed, Return, Aeriel Ace, Shadow Ball and Swords Dance, and you got your Physical pokemon. It is like the Physical version of Alakazam!

I don't play D/P because IMO they ruined the franchise by moving to DS. (IE, I don't have a DS, and DS emu's suck)

I played a few pokemon games..
Red/Blue were good. Geodude was my favorite.
There was also that Pokemon photographer one for the N64, that was also pretty fun :)
