Couldnt think of another place to put this really. Put it in here simply because in theory its a 'game'.
was just curious if any other cfc'er had got caught on the poker bug going on across the world right now?
Where do you play? in real life/or online and in which case whereabouts?
what imparticular do you play? (holdem/omaha/omaha hi/lo/badugi etc)
you play for fun or for real? and if so what stakes?
any sucess/failure stories?

I layed in the clubs in Los Angeles form the 70's unil I moved last summer. Played Stud and Omaha hi/lo 8 or better. Played some Holdem tourneys in Vegas.

Well actually we could only play 5 card draw until around the 90's as that was all that was legal, along with Pan.

whats hi/lo 8?

i play quite a lot of omaha hi/lo, was wondering if it was the same thing,

4 pocket card, 2 for hi 2 for lo
5 on the board.

Yes hi/lo 8 is the same thing.Lows have to be 8 high to split

I play ALOT of no limit hold em.Many online sites but mostly Bugsy's Club and TigerGaming.I kinda fancy those sites cuz I started there with nothing and managed to build good bankrolls at both.

I also have a B/M casino nearby with Western Canada'a largest poker room.

I'll play any buy in pretty much.Gone as high as $2500 but usually try to sattelite in.

Cash games are usually 100/200 No limit but I'll even play $1 sit n gos.

As with most rounders, the only stories I really remember are bad beats and I don't want to talk about them ;)

I don't have any stories.

Same thing here.

Sometimes I do well and other times I do alright.

The way it works is that if the lowest hand cannot make a low of an 8 or better (lower), then no low is paid. In that case only the high winner gets the money and if the pot mets the criteria, you have a kill pot.

In some of the clubs, some of the games have a kill pot. When one person wins the whole pot, the next hand is played for double the stakes. The pot has to be a certain size or it is not a kill pot.

You often see little action when a flop comes all high cards and kills any low. So in that case the pot may stay small.

yep i play hi/lo online a lot, was checkin they were the same thing, mainly play on 'vcpoker' mainly by building my bankroll from giveaways/freerolls :)

I played a bit of no limit hold 'em at a friends house last night. We played to around 5am. We didn't play for a lot of money, it was more a matter of pride and/or bragging rights. Needless to say I was up at the end of the night.

allright here is 1 little story that still puzzles me.This is from an online tourney.

There are 23 left and the top 20 pay.Blinds are 2000/4000 and I'm on the BB.

Its late and the table has tightened up as we close in on the cash spots.

It gets folded around to the SB who has about 63,000 in chips.I have about 1800 less so he just barely has me covered.

Anyways,he raises 4k.I check my cards and see AK suited. So like a knothead,I move all-in.He calls in a flash with a Q3 offsuit.

A Q3 offsuit for 99% of his stack!....flop comes 4 diamonds which match his 3 and I'm done.

Now the all in was dumb.I shoulda just bumped up 10k and bet the flop. But what still puzzles me is how FAST he made the call with those rags.I can only think he hit the wrong button...it was a horrible, awful call...that worked out.

Know what you mean has happened to me but in a positive light, im holding pocket rockets (Aces) in tourney play, bout 100 or so to go with top 27 playing, both of us are in a fairly commanding place at this stage of tourney with about 20k each, im on SB person is 5th person or so to bet, following the BB he raises bout half his stack i go all in. im expectin to see pocket kings or something, when up comes Ace 3 offsuit, he hits nothing and i go on to see the cash (dont win tho :( ) not as good/bad as your story but i won it so makes me a bit happier :)

Been playing texas hold em with my 2 brothers and with a bunch of friends for over a year now and gotta say, it's still a lot of fun.

When I do play online (which is rare lately), I play at poker.com. I'm 'wildsolus' there

One funny story...

I had pocket kings and was in the SB and rose preflop... well my twin raised back and I re-raised that and eventually went all in pre-flop. Not too bad though because I had around $14 and he had ~$4 or so...

I flipped over the K-K and he flipped over his cards...

A-A

I let go the f-bomb quite a lot :mischief:

Oh and I lost.

I play at a local tourney now and again, its a £5 (GBP) tourney with rebuys for 2 hours, i occasionally make the cash, £160 was my biggest win. It's a pot limit hold'em tournament so quite a lot of action.

Worst beat? Q-Q vs 8-3 diamonds..., yeah, he caught his flush :(

I play Texas Hold 'Em and Omaha on my World Series of Poker game. I'd love to play in person, but I don't know anyone who does.

With nearly 1 in every 3 college kids playing these days, it shouldn't be hard to find someone.

could also play online as well, that way your guaranteed a game whenever you want one, is also a way of finding people that play in your area.

Not 100% sure but I think this may be my first real money win at Bugsy's Club.A $2+.20 SnG :)

Seem to recall the "big" hand was 5 or 6 hands previous

2+20 SnG is a sit and go you pay 2.20 to enter. All players $2 goes into prize fund. The .20s go to the house for "running" the game.In a cash game, the house just takes a rake of the pots. There are no cash pots in a tourney format so they get you at the entry.

A SnG is just a single table knockout tourney. In this one the prize breakdown was 50% of prize pool to winner,30% to 2nd and 20% to 3rd.

Desktop is Halle Berry :D

I play texas holdem online sometimes.....but I prefer blackjack
