As the title says, I love their UA. To be able to get one free policy for each era is for a peaceful and cultural bias player like myself so much fun and it's really good too. And they have in my opinion the nicest colorscheme to (I'm a bit of a design freak).

Any other Polish fans out there?

Good for you for finding civ you like to play. ;-)
Other than that, at some point you may consider if having free poicy tree isnt by accident more than any other UA, but shhh, it's not MP game, so even if one civ is easier than who cares?

Also if you are them, you can't have him as en enemy (I seriously can't bear that Polish language... never realized this before, but Arabian, Russian, Chinese, German and whatever else people might consider sounding awful the most is definitely all like music compare to this language).

It's not the language, it's the voice actor. I have spoken polish with many people, none of them soundllikecasimir . Sounds like if America was represented by Steve Urkel

Modders, I would give you all of the things. Pls.

UA: Female leaders have a permanent -5 diplomatic relation with Urkel. During a golden age, This penalty is lost and replaced with a new one. +200 to diplomatic relations with female leaders, Female leaders will submit to any trade or diplomatic request Urquelle proposes. Any civilization at war with Urquelle will be at war with all female civilizations as well.

I can't help but ask where you're from? :crazyeye:

Yeah, here. Also my favorite civ now, although some call the UA a bit bland, I just call it open. And whether you like unbiased UAs or not, it definitely is one of the most powerful ones. If not THE most poweful one. And the best color scheme of the game just sweetens the deal. :-)

I'm going to give Poland a shot in my next game and see how it goes.

Their UA is the best in game. They also get a UU in the Spearman line of tech meaning that you can basically Beeline Research Labs.

I regard Poland as a newb's civ. Doesn't offer any kind of risk/reward proposition. No new concepts, no new ways to play the game. Just play the way you always do, plus have a free social policy every era and these really sweet stables. Blasé.

Signed.

Still, bland to some is open, unbiased and free to others. I personally don't like to be pushed too hard like in the case of Brazil or France for example. Or in a different way like with the Maya.

I would actually consider poland with no UU or UB better than at least 50% of civs. That UA is so overpowered its unbelievable. If I ever move up to deity, I'll probably use poland

I like that with Polands UA you can take it where you wan't in comparison with for instance Indonesia, where you are out of luck if you don't find any islands or landmasses nearby.

The civ is great, I do have trouble making up my mind about the shape of the game i want to play with them. will that be a culture game? will that be religious one? Too hard to make my mind. At least it does offer some good UB and UU compared to other Civs that very often one of their uniques are terrible.

I started my first Poland game last night. I started two tiles away from a river, so I moved my settler over to it to found Warsaw. It turned out that I had 5, yes 5, incense tiles within working distance to Warsaw. And then I got the Goddess of Festivals pantheon. Oh, and there is silver too. And three pasture tiles. And my second city has Wine. Things are really looking up. I don't even care that Germany is right next door.

A large part of the skill factor in Civ is making the most of the hand you're dealt. I played a game with Indonesia very much as you describe. It was a struggle to leverage either the UA or the UB, and didn't build the UU at all. It was both more challenging and rewarding moreso than being handed free sopols.

But to each their own.

WTH? Did we both start Clone Games last night? I started a game as Poland, had Warsaw founded on a river at the coast, and quickly found 8 -count 'em - 8 Incense in my first three city sites - plus wine where I placed Krakow. I raked in Faith from Goddess of Festivals, and cash (eventually) by trading Incense to all and sundry.
Oh, and Bismarck is my nearest neighbor - luckily, on the other side of a 1 - tile wide isthmus where I placed my third city as a fortified cork. Also got 7 pastures in my first city sites, so the Ducal Stables are cranking out gold for me. Lovely Civ, even if Dr Duffy used to say that learning Polish could cause brain damage ... ;)
