Arabic is an abjad, meaning it doesn't have "letters" for the vowels.

They are teleported back to the past by Morocco, and upon reaching Saladin's time, they find him killing Christians and Shias, and he is a Kurd, so neither can claim that he is Arabic or Turkish.
