Is there a correlation between a persons political beliefs and their belief in ghosts?

Lets find out shall we?

If you believe in ghosts, say why. If not. Why not?
I'm operationalizing belief in ghosts as "having little to no question that they exist", so if you are unsure, vote that you don't believe in ghosts. The christian holy ghost does not count as a ghost in this context. I'm talking about disembodied spirits that haunt the living.
You may also say why you believe what you do politically if you so choose.

Center to liberal, no ghosts. Just voted wrong on my own damn pole. Man what a day.
Consider 1 less liberal believer, 1 more liberal non-believer.

I wouldn't put anything on a correlation between political stances and believing in the supernatural. Those who believe in such crap, need a mental check-up.

No one, no one, will be able to change my opinion about that, not even some freaking photos of ghosts on graveyards. It's BS, but heck there's money in it.

It's already hard to see the correlation, but when I look at the poll options, it gets even worse.

Liberal, conservative and center.....

Were are the options for us that don't belive in som kind of right-wing alternative....

'Whacko pinko nut bar' by American standards
'Above Moderate but yet far Left Leftist' by Canadian Standards
I don't know If I beleive in ghost, there's evidence that proves they might exist and other evidence that says there is not, so I dunno. But My poltical views do not effect my views on things outside the realm of politcs....like the colour of my underwear for example

I believe in "spirits" but not ghosts. That is, there (probably) aren't any spirits of the dead hanging around. I do not believe there is any dilly-dallying between death and going where ever you're going to go.

Conservative republican.

I just can see a correlation in that. For my part: no ghost altough it would be fun if they existed.

Intolerant moderate and a skeptic. But...

I don't believe in white-sheet spirits chasing Scooby Doo. I do believe that some sort "soul" is intrinsic to our consciousness, but I can't scientifically quantify what the soul is. Ergo, I can't predict what its properties and behaviors are.
...So I guess it depends on how you define "ghost."
I've been places and felt "presence" that seemed like it was more than my knowledge of history could account for -- like when I was at the WTC site last January. Was that simply empathy? Maybe, but it certainly left me haunted. Not in any sixth-sense "spooky" way, but I had a feeling that there was a lot emotion pouring out around me, a lot of sadness -- more than I could account for by what I saw.

So I voted "center with ghost." I don't know what's out there, but I think Shakespeare said it best through the mouth of Hamlet (I, v, 166):
"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

Pretty similar to this, but left. Can't really tell with ghosts, but i wouldn't be surprised at all if they are the spirits of the dead just bumming around for some reason or another (none of them good i reckon).

Liberal, no ghosts (other than the ghost of Al Gore rattling around in my fridge late at night saying "thank God I didn't have to preside over the past two years of horror!"). Plenty aliens and werewolves though.

 I hate labeling myself a centrist but I certainly don't fit into the camps (of course, its just like this board to ***** that there aren't enough options).

Let me rephrase that: for the purposes of the poll I will consider myself a centrist.

As for the questions, I don't believe in the ghost, spirits, or any of that other stuff.

What about the Holy ghost? :p

As RMS - Conservative, no ghosts.

Libertarian, so none of the political classifications given apply to me.

As for ghosts, I'm not sure. A buddy I traveled and worked construction with was an Ojibway who burned sage to purify the air in new motel rooms we'd check into. There was one we checked into, where he carried this seashell full of burning sage around the room as usual, where it kept going out in one particular corner of the room. There were no drafts there, and no obvious explanation for why the fire kept going out when it passed into that area. We learned later that a man was murdered in that room, in that spot, a few years ago. So what WAS that? A place with so much evil that a mere shellful of sage couldn't purify it, and was thus extinguished? I can't say that that WASN'T a possibility.

In the waking world, that is the only real inexplicable thing I've seen. (In dreams I've seen lots of weird sh*t, but then again those are dreams, so who knows?). I have no "gift" of clairvoyance (although I HAVE had strong intuitive forebodings that have turned out correct), I generally think most things can be explained scientifically, I think of spirituality as more an issue of how you handle yourself in terms of intangibles like morality, rather than having an emphasis on mystical esoterics outside yourself. I'm not really a mystical person at all. YET, I CAN'T rule these things out. I've known MANY level-headed people, people very much like me, who have seen some very amazing and inexplicable things.

And the truth is, science can't rule them out all the time. In fact, any GOOD scientist will not with 100% certainty say that these things DON'T exist--that is not the way scientists, with the scientific method, think!

Centrist, no ghosts.

The supernatural exists only in fantasy and fiction. Unless proven otherwise... :satan:
