Post the Windows Operating System you hate most.

I absolutely hate ME the most and I have tried to remove it before, but it screws up my computer.

Windows ME deffinately sucks most

In my experience 98 and ME are the ones that were the smallest steps, and I've had most problems with ME, although it's more likely the computer that is bad.

98 wasn't that great until SE, but ME is the worst.

This poll isn't complete as long as Windows 1 & 2 aren't included. They have to be the worst by a wide margin. :D

Luckily I never had the pleasure to use them, but the little I read about it, and the few screenshots I saw (and does it look ugly...) where more than enough.

Windows 1 and 2 were cheap rip-offs of the Mac OS.

ME is the worst OS ever. I don't think I've properly shut down in a while. It freezes constantly. Its slower than other OS. And its not even supported by other companies (hmm...I can't get iTunes on my computer you say? That's just wonderful...).

Apple wasn't the first one to use a GUI, windows might have "borrowed" a lot from the Mac OS, but the idea was already working in the different graphical interfaces for UNIX. Both Apple and MS did get their ideas from there.

Anyway, it is still not possible to choose the 1 or 2 version of windows in this poll, and they were the worst versions.

Huh? That makes no sense at all. Windows 95 was extraordinary when it first was released.

I think some of you are using a bad comparison method here. Many of you are just comparing all OSes to today's standard, and that isn't fair. You need to be a bit more objective and compare based on the time that it was released in, the features that it included, the reliability/stability of the day (not the reliability of new hardware of today with an 8 year old OS), and so on.

3.11 itself was also a great improvement over the old Windows or DOS shells.

Anyhow, I'm going to quote from the original thread that I posted in:

Windows ME was the worst release ever by Microsoft.

I own/have used almost every version of Windows (starting with 3.1) and MS DOS (starting with version 4).

Of the Microsoft lineup, here is my ranking of all their OSes. Starting with best and ending with worst.

Windows 2000
Windows XP
Windows NT
Windows 98 SE
Windows 98
Windows 3.11 for Workgroups
Windows 3.1
Windows 95
MS Dos 4.0 and up
Windows ME

Why did I give these rankings? My judgement is based on experience ranging from: a)Ease of Use; b)How stable it is (or how often you get the Blue Screen of Death; c) Compatibility; d)versatility; and e)innovation

Windows ME introduced nothing new, and only proved to be the most unstable OS they released.

I sort-of was. :( However, I don't think that Win 3.1 was really up there in terms of functionallity with OS/2, although I don't know anything about stability. My main problems were with excel 3 & 4, and word 2, which were very prone to crashes, and not the OS's fault.

98 was great when it was first installed, but like Strom Thurmond(not that he was great early), it deteriorates as it gets older into a state of insane crashes and 1-to-many Fatal Exceptions and blue screens. Also like him, it takes forever to go completely dowm, which sucks if you need an excuse to upgrade to XP. 95 never did this with me. 3.1 sucks to; the interface is just so dang ugly.

My experience with Windows ME at school is mostly a positive one. I probably got lucky, since most people say otherwise. Then again, I wasn't playing games at school either.

ME is propably the worst if you relate it to the change it made and the timing...

But I hate them all, the only one I like is 98SE as it's best for gaming and uses least RAM.

XP would be good, but you HAVE to register it, and I don't like the idea one bit. You onever know what the comp sends to MS...
