Thanks, TF,

I feel suddenly as if a great load of whale dung has been redirected to a more appropriate use at the source. ;)

I got 5 popups on the forum in the last 5 minutes.

Let's hope Telefragged can fix the problem soon...

Anti-turnipists! Err... yea!

Anyways, use the Google toolbar, the best popup blocker that money cannot buy.

Added the ad banner codes back to Modern CFC and Dark Blue... Let me know if you still get popups on the forums...

Now up to 6 popups and I should add that this sort of intrusive spam code from the server is one of the reasons that MSN and AOL have raised the security alert status classifying websites with "civfanatics" in the domain name as higher than minimal risk.

I use AOL and I get tonnes of spam e-mails, however, e-mail notifications from Civ fanatics are the only ones that carry the AOL health warning. How many notifications do you send out a day? - I get 3-4 on average a day. I guess this may piss them off if there are several thousand AOL users getting e-mail notices. AOL 8 seems to be pretty good at blocking the pop - ups as consequence though which is sweet.

I heard from Telefragged a while ago that the forum is sending out hundreds of emails every minute...nonstop.

e-mail thread subscription should be disable by default IMO. Every newbies which begin to post receive tons of non-wanted e-mail.

And this valuclick or double click create problem when i play multiplayer game like a shooter, so i have to run ad-aware to clean those spyware.

Recently my internet provider had to clean a residual picture of my account, because i wasnt able to connect.

It seem those telemarketer always search a way to invade your privacy with dirty tricks. .

So now each time i connect here, i had to clean my cookie and run ad-aware before playing multiplayer game ( TFC).

Its not that I view the e-mail notifications from CFC as spam Tassadar- I don't. I just find it odd that AOL sees fit to tag them with a warning when they let the other more dubious stuff just slide by. I need the e-mail notifications for trading and stuff in the CFC FFL. Hell I wouldn't be responding to your post if it wasn't for an e-mail.

@Popups: I recommend Google as well, or Mozilla Firebird even.
I blame the java that might be in some of the adds to be the source of my IE 6.0 problems lately (first I type into the quick post - then hit reply, and get a 404 message - then I reload - and it is all there -> well it might be a server problem or IE unstability - but I have not got those 404s in Mozilla)

@email: I took the liberty to turn off auto subscription (errr - not certain if that's what it is called in user options), effectively ruining my track of what threads I want to be updated on if I do not press subscribe - but - my daily 50 emails from cfc are reduced to aproximately 5-7 at most, which saves scarce resources: my time, and bandwith of the email-handler.

On a side note: I do not use popup blockers because I want to keep TF from actually making an income to pay off his costs - but as they ve been a pestulence for me lately, I think my gains are greater than his. I apologize to the extent that TF has to generate enough to maintain the website, but that is about as far as my apology can go.

It's doin it AGAIN!!!!

I hit post reply and the "Visit Our Sponsors" screen came up.
