Post a picture of your empire

No, don't change to Democracy! The reduction in corruption vs. Republic will not be noticeable.

I second that. Plus the lack of unit support wipes out any increase that might have resulted.

Here is an example:

Thanks for all the answers! I have always changed to Democracy when I got the tech - maybe I should stop doing it now... :) Even if I have played this game for some years now, I still feel like a beginner.

And yeah, Inca got crushed by the Koreans, Hittites and Egypt. Some turns later everyone went against the Hittites. I thought of going to war against them too, as I didn't have any rubber within my borders (big surprise...), but the Hittite got a source at their east coast. However, when I had loaded 8 units into two of my galleons, Greece sent 4 cavalry into my territory. I signed a MPP with Sumeria, and then asked Greece to leave. They declared war on me. The result:

I expect Greece to recapture it though, as I only got one cavalry defending it. Notice the rubber - it's within reach, so I will do whatever I can to take it. Also, hope you don't mind me posting so much from my "empire"... :p

You don't. Instead, you launch a few nukes at it in rage. :)
lol
I too do not understand. Those are the Maya, it says so on the screen. ;) The saltpeter is easily reachable and it looks like you own half the big continent so...
The mountain is an unconnected 1-square island. Oh, and this is picture is from late in the game when me and the Dutch had conquered the Incan empire, so that's how I got into that continent. The Aztecs got conquered earlier by the Incas and Dutch.
One thing you should know is that "culturally linked starting locations" is bugged. I don't remember all the details but it has something to do with the American culture group, it may just apply if you choose random civs (in which case it always chooses americans).
Huh, I see.

I've seen weirder. I once saw a continent that looked kind of like the (lowercase) letter h.

That continent has a weird shape. Is it a custom map or random (in that case, do you have the seed number?).

Yeah, it's a bit strange. I was lucky that I was in one of the "corners" - I don't know if I would have survived if I started where the Incas did (and they are dead now :)). It's a random map, but I don't have a clue where to find the seed number... It turns out that I have CivAssist II on my computer, maybe I can find it there somewhere?

Current situation: Since the Sumerians were so weak, I decided to finish them off, and get their dyes. However the Greeks snatched them right in front of me. Since I had tanks and they didn't, I attacked them when the Sumerians were gone. I think I will take Herakleia, Sparta and Argos, to secure some luxuries and the oil, rubber and coal.

Korea is getting a bit powerful- you might need to "fix" that. :mischief:

If you can find it, it would be nice. I'd like to try that map! :)

The 3rd pic in that filmstrip said you got another city, Imjonseong from that peace treaty with Goryeo. Where is it?

Cool, doing nicely there, I think. (I'm still stuck on Regent)
Hey thanks! I'm not quite familiar with playing on Emperor yet. I have managed a couple of wins, but that's only when I have got a nice starting location.

I will try to do that after I have "fixed" the Greeks. ;)

Ah, finally found it - 18457630. Hope you get a good starting location! :)

To generate the same map, one also needs the map settings such as size, pangea/continents/archipello, %water, climate, temperature, age.

And to get the same starting locations, one needs to know the civilizations in the correct order, or at least what slots are filled with a seafaring civ. (because that trait messes with the starting locations of all civ)

Thanks for clarifying, MAS.

Settings: Standard, Pangea, 70% water, Normal, Temperate, 4 Billion years. I also played with sedentary barbs and normal aggression if that is of interest.

Players: Scandinavia, Korea, Egypt, Inca, Sumeria, Hittites, Greeks and Babylon.

Hopefully everything will be in order now! :hammer:

It was located just next to Mongolia far away. Loaded with corruption and an easy target I decided to disband it, in order not to provoke a Mongol attack.

When I get one of those, I gift it to someone I don't much like... let them deal with it.:lol::lol:

I sometimes gift it to a small civ, if I want it to stand up a bit against my enemies.

I always think of that as a 'fly in the ointment'.
