Practical Implementation of Landmines

I was wondering about defensive bombard because if it works, I would have gave land mines 2-3 rate of fire to make them more deadly.

A note on what I said above, A Viking Yeti, are you thinking of artillery units? I think they might be able to use their rate of fire on defensive bombard while units with 2+ rate of fire can;t. (don't quote me on this)

Well... I added it to any mod I was playing and for my personal mod. I also tested a land mine I made a unit for, and it worked then. Maybe a patch caused the discrepancy.

I don't think it will use ROF, but it will use bombard strength. However, it is a little odd to watch a rifleman shoot at your land mine... ...Firaxis really should've thought of this.

Well, for land mines, you could simulate a land mine doing lots of damage with high RoF on defensive bombard, but his doesn't work.

The closest alternative would be to give it 99 bombard to guarantee at least 1HP off on defensive bombard, then a defense of about 10 so infantry have a hard time (like real mines killing people) while modern armor easily withstand the mine. And of course the mine has -5HP.

OOPS, sorry for the quadruple post. Could a mod fix this?? Thanks

I don't like the defense idea, just 'cause your infantry is standing there shooting at the mine while it explodes over and over... It's really bothersome to me, I don't know, maybe you guys can ignore it. Maybe make it an artillery unit with one range and higher bombard, so it's 'captured' by the enemy when they learn the mines' position, but can still be used to attack without the ridiculous infantry vs. mine situation.

A Viking Yeti... or you can see it as the infantry trying to shoot out MANY Mines from a Mine Field (which is what each mine represents) to understand what the Infantry is doing shooting at Mines :) How ever players use them, there are considerations because there are no really Great and or Direct settings that can be used to set Mines as most would prefer they function...so we just try to get around what we can to be able to use them at all. :)

The AI won't... Not to mention that's extremely unrealistic.

Granted, but sheep have been used (didn't someone just release an exploding sheep unit? ) and the Soviets on at least one occasion simply marched Mongolian troops straight through a minefield in order to clear it.
