It might be hard to tell, but that is a partial solar eclipse. I had to hold my sunglasses in front of the camera lens for it to pick up anything but a big white blur.

Okay, technically thats not Russia, but Kazakhstan

Come on, those are not even one fifth of the quality of the other pics of the thread, and I could find better pics of any European, Asian (including Pacific islands), Australian, African, or American country that are more impressive than that within 1 minute.

The only truly good one is the last one from Genocidicbunny, which is not even from the country where they were supposed to be from.

And not even 1/5th of the pictures in this thread are self-taken.
If I was to go on a google search for images of Russia, it would probably blow you away. Instead, i decided to post some pictures of places where I have actually been. The pictures may not be that great, but they are ( save the solar eclipse) what any person going there can see and experience. They are not one-off special moments.

As I said, the pictures may not be amazing because I am by no means a photographer, nonetheless, they are photo's I took.

So Mirc, I await your own photos, that you took. Showcase your favorite country from your point of view, not of some random photographers.

I only have good self-taken nature-related photos from Romania on this computer. This does not mean that I find it the most beautiful country on Earth, or not. Simply saying that if you want, I'll give you pictures from there that were taken by me that ARE truly incomparable with what you posted, which is simply an... average group of trees and clouds high above?

The Netherlands easily.
Spoiler :
if you like snooker

Seriously, the USA. But they're cheating, they're a continent.

I was driving around the other day, and I found myself on a bridge across the Rhine, with the sun setting over the river and it was quite magical. Unfortunately I was driving 120km/h so I soon found myself in mundane ugliness, but for those couple of seconds I was in the prettiest country on earth. Dutch skies, and sunsets, are among the best I've seen.

As for pretty countries I've been to: Switzerland ranks high, as well as China (although the sheer ugliness of its cities kind of detract from the niceness of the karst sceneries, mountain ranges, deserts, rice terraces, bamboo forests etc.). And Costa Rica. And Ecuador. And France.... Really can't choose. The only way to go is to visit more countries and hope one trumps them all.

All my pictures of Russia are of buildings and cityscapes, so they're not applicable for this thread. Go figure on why I posted someone else's pictures.

No offense, but you're kidding right?

What's wrong with his picture? You don't like scenic vistas? Scenes from everyday life in a beautiful, natural environment? Or you're just a city fan?

You also didnt imply my photo's were mediocre.

Okay, as far as photo's go they may be mediocre, but even then, they're of the type of beauty that I can appreciate. Spectacular, breathtaking sights are cool and all, but give me a warbling river, nice forest, some sunshine some grass to lie down in and ill be happy.

Hell, this thread is about the prettiest country. And how pretty something is is fairly subjective.
Alas, here's another photo of Russia to keep this post legal:

The two peaks that you see in the middle here are the same as the highest peaks in the first pic.

Of the countries I have visited I liked China best. I can upload some pics later.

Because they weren't. Everyday moments can be as beautiful as scenic vistas, its learning to see that beauty which is, I think, one of the secrets to unlocking true contentment with life.

Indeed. :)

Wonderful!

Yeah, if we discount man-made stuff, in this case something that seems to be a garbage dump...

As I said in another thread, unspoiled nature is always beautiful.

Where do you see the garbage dump? I see ( as far as I can tell) an old farm shack, a manhole and a car stopped at the end of a badly paved road.

You know, I cant really tell what that is. The blocky things look like old paving slabs, so im guessing thats the end of a road. Possible that its some hobo camp, seen plenty of those around.

Because it's a bunch of animals pooping in overgrown grass.

They're only a small part of the picture.

If they were pooping on clean-cut grass would it somehow be better? Or what if they were eating overgrown grass? Or eating perfectly cut grass? Seriously, you're being ridiculous.
