Preview: Indian cities

Ayutthaya or Ayuddhya was a word that we use to call this city for today and some western people call it too. but in the acient time (400 year ago)
siam people themself and burma people call Ayotaya city

As BlueMonkey said, the Khmer Empire and the Burmese were quite a distance apart. The Burmese center was at Pagan (also spelled "Bagan"). The Khmer Empire encompassed the region of Kambujadesa and also held some influence over the fringes of the Tai regions in Laos to the northeast and Thailand to the west before it eventually declined and moved its center to Phnom Penh. Bagan was a contemporary of the Khmer Empire and was one of the major kingdoms of the Classical Period. It also has some of the most interesting Buddhist monuments such as Schweizigon. :) The Burmese and Khmer were periodically in competition with the Tai kingdoms.

I'd say Nepal is culturally closer to the Himalayan cultures, certainly not like the Southeast Asian cultures.

And yeah, SE Asian history is very fascinating and often overlooked. I've been thinking of doing a SE Asia mod for quite some time. Maybe when I actually get the Art of War mod done. ;) :crazyeye:

@ Ogedai "The Burmese and Khmer were periodically in competition with the Tai kingdoms." Most of thes kingdoms waxed and waned depending on the power and influence of particular kings; frontiers were very fluid.

@ Sword "in that area you have a whole bunch of civs, like in Europe. Nam Viet, Burma, Khmer, Java and Thailand " India is approximately the same geographical size as Europe and more culturally diverse. And try overlaying Indonesia on a map of the USA.

The Bronze Age probably started along the Irrawady (sp?); its one of the few places on earth where copper and tin deposits are close enough together for a single kingdom to control them easily. And let's see: Cotton, Silk, Rice, Domesticated Poultry, Open Sea Navigation, the world's longest poem, two major world religions, early urban centers, Zero, "arabic" numerals, depth psychology, ... yep, beats the "Cradle of Civilization" hands down.

after angkor era khmer was gone to a dark edge little by littel ,when Ayuttaya unite Sukothai , Khmer was under control by Ayotaya(Don't like a colony they have there king there rule but every year they just sent a tribute to Ayuttaya King)
so they was only two who competition Burma&Thai And thai was lose in 2 time

the strange thing in Ayuttaya is there Golden Age was begin after they lose to Burma! when "Naresuan The great" was declare independent Ayuttaya Have a war with Burma again (Burma in that tome was very powerfull Because there leader "Burangnong") and when King Naresuan was ascend the throne
he invade the burma that cause burma chang there capitalcity from "Hongsavadee" to "Tong-U" and so he declare war very often the area in his era was very big he got all "Mon" city (Part of burma city Mon is some race of people who live in burma)

I was thinking of doing a series of campaigns, in the style of Empire Earth, which have feature a civilization's defining moments, threw the ages. I think a Thai one would be cool to do.
