It is because of the high population. It produces almost no pollution though.

Here is another sceenshot from the same game. I managed to get the city, but I fear my possesions in Anatolia are threathened by both Genoans, who just landed a force on my territory (not at war yet though). And the Mamluks/Beyliks/Cilicians, who might attack me at some point.

Ok, so how does this look? Each of the units enslave another unit.

I missed reading this thread for a few days (school exams). I know you're about to release this so I'm probably too late, but...

I understand Catholic vs. Orthodox vs. Moslem; how is Franciscan a fourth faction? All the Franciscan priests and brothers I've known were Catholic. Why not Bogomil if you're looking for another religious faction appropriate to the fading era of Byzantium? The friar/monk/imam equivalent would probably be Perfecti.

Well the Franciscan is a special unit for the latin civs. That way they get an extra advantedge.

And as of now I can't release it, 3d downloads doesn't work and the civfanatics server keep giving me error messages whenever I have spent 1½ hour uploading the scenario.

What do you mean by Latin civs? Which civs are Latin?

One of the alliances are called "Latins" It the Papal State, the Latin Duchies, the Hospitallers and the Cypriot Kingdom.
