Many of us from the Diplomacy Forums are wading into battle with the rest of the world under the Civfanatics banner. (Sort of :D)

Can we get a private forum installed within our sub-forum to discuss strategy post letters and seek advice from the rest of our teammates and the like? Once the tourney is over it could easily be made public, that way no "elitism" is conveyed to other posters.

We are a pretty good crowd (not many spammers and abusers) and I'm pretty sure AoA would not have any problem moderating the group.

The World Championships are located at this site:

Some of the best players in the world will be in this tourney, so our skills will be tested severely.

But we are definitely up to the challenge!

Thank you for consideration in advance.

I've been told to come here and post how much I want a private forum by a certain person who's identy is protected as 'Flat Xof' under threat of Foxing (whatever the h*ll that is :D).

I don't think this forum has the capability to make private forums anyways. However, I could make a forum and only hand out the addy to the people who are playing the game :D.

If we are going to compete as a team and be able to easily discuss as a team strategy etc we would find it useful to have such a forum.

The need for privacy is to stop spies from other teams competing in the diplomacy worlds tournament from listening in and spilling the beans ;)

Yes, a private/restricted forum of some kind is essential to our doing well in this tournament. It would be no good if our opponents could simply come to our site and read all our strategies! Plus, you DO want us to represent CFC well, don't you Thunderfall? ;)

Aye, if we have a private forum we can pool all of our skills together by playing each nation as a team and not as individuals :D.

I remember from another thread that Thunderfall said vBB version 2.2.6 doesn't support private forums. You'll have to wait for version 3.

Yes, because I could REALLY REALLY use some help from my wonderful diplo civfanatic team mates..... pretty pretty please

That's not really the intention :D.

But it would give us an opportunity to look at the games and give advice.

Until vBulletin 3.0... :) Right now it's too time consuming to edit people's permission to give them access to the private forum. vB 3.0 will have a simple password protected forum feature...

So when are you installing TF? ;)
It's not even out yet. Last time I heard it's expected to come out early next year....

You can go to an outside site service and register for a forum there. Bravenet.com, you can register an account. One feature you can have is a Message Forum - and this forum has a password-protection feature.

Or you can wait for version 3
