I just want to ask how on earth one can send private messages? I've read the FAQ, but I still can't find the related option in my control panel. Maybe I am stupid ... or is it because I've just registered in this forum and I need some form of admittance of a mod or admin?

I would be really glad, if someone can help me in this matter

IIRC, you would need about five posts and have been around for five days before that feature kicks in.

Make sure you are posting in forums that add to your post count, since some forums have it turned off. If they weren't I would have something like 10 to 15 thousand more posts.

Yeah, I don't bother posting to forums with post count disabled either.

Though how often is the FAQ is checked?

It is located in the forum rules:

New member Restrictions
Newly registered members may not use signatures, e-mail forum members, post visitor messages, use the private messaging system or join or create social groups, until they have been members for 5 days AND have at least 5 posts.
Also uploads to the modding file database have to get approved by one administrator, unless they have been a member for 30 days AND have at least 30 posts.

This is a measure taken to protect members from spam and ad bots.
