Problem Launching Warlords

Hey wassup people love the the forums i dont post much but i read around and i get a lot of help to improve my gaming from you guys. thanks! anyways i have a problem launching warlords and any help would be great! what happens is when I launch the game (from the desktop) the hour glass appears for a split second and then it disappears again. Leaving the process running in my task manager (civ4warlords.exe I believe) but not doing anything else..

I have the opposite problem (sort of). I can launch Warlords just fine (CivIV D2D + Warlords D2D), but when I quit to the desktop civ4warlords.exe stays running in the task manager. I didn't know about this 'feature' until this morning when I couldn't open any other applications. I popped the TM open and found five running civ4warlords.exe listed, one of which was consuming ~175MB of memory. Once I did an 'end process tree' on the first couple, the apps I was trying to launch started popping up. Very, very strange.
