I'm having some time playing Julius with the GOTM45 settings to see if I can actually meet those victory conditions. But I have a different problem.

I've just installed the latest HOF patch (v1.74.004) and under the settings tab for my game it says:
"The assets are different from a standard install. Contact the HOF staff"

As far as I know, other than the HOF mod I've never done anything to my vanilla civ installation/assets.

Is this to be expected for this new HOF version?
Do I need to correct this before the actual game starts otherwise my game will be disallowed?

Edit: Sorry, this thread might be pointless, I've just read about the Assets checker. I'm downloading it now. I'll post an update soon.
Edit2: Nope, still need help. Assets checker gives no errors.

Ok... so Assets checker ran and found about 1535 errors - all "Not Found".

It has the game's path wrong - I assume it is reading this from the registry or something? My game installation has moved from where I initially installed it, and up until now it hasn't been a problem.

Does anyone know how I change the pointer to the game path in windows XP? Or just for the Assets checker?

Edit: Path problem solved. I changed the Registry key.

I changed the INSTALLDIR registry key for my civilization4 install and ran assets checker again. This time no errors were found.

But I still have the same error reported in game that my assets aren't standard...

This really needs to be raised in the HoF Support forum. However, I'll try waving a PM in their direction to see if they'll stop by.

I've just installed it here, and it works fine. I get the usual "Not valid for HoF submissions" message if I don't lock assets on a random game, but no other errors.

I do have BtS 3.19 installed. Could that be a difference?

I did the samething with Warlords. I must have forgotten to copy the new HOFSetting.txt file to our repository.

Anyway, fixed them and uploaded new Install exes. Please download again and reinstall. Sorry for the screwup.
I just downloaded the .exe files again from here and installed them, but still have the same in game error message.

FYI - I also have BtS 3.19 with the BUFFY mod installed - no problems there.

I am not sure what the problem is. I double checked and I didn't get the assets warning. I compiled the HOF-1.74.004.exe and uploaded it again. Try it again. Make sure you delete the mod before you reinstall it.

The fix worked for me, no more warnings. Adrianj, are you sure you didn't check the "no conquest" option? That would make the game invalid for HOF.

@C63 - I tried running a normal custom game with settings that are usually fine for a HOF game = all VCs enabled, Pangaea map type, Lock Modified Assets, etc. Still the same error.

These are the steps I've just taken:

* Browse to civilization4/Mods folder - delete HOF-1.74.004 folder - check
* Try run game with mod to be sure I did in fact delete the right one, get message that mod not found - check
* Download HOF installer again, having deleted the old installer - check
* Run new HOF installer exe - check
* Run the game and load the mod - check
* Start a new game as random leader (I draw Genghis) on a pangaea map, all VCs, locked modified assets, etc - Error - non-standard assets.
* Double check with assets checker - No errors were found :crazyeye:

I've emailed you a save game Denniz.
I'm using Windows XP, Service Pack 3, and it's not a steam version of the game, patched up to version 1.7.4.0.

Oh, for the record, I don't get the same issue with my Warlords HOF games - only Vanilla.

I have a completely different problem. When I launch Civ 4 with 1.74.004, the options dialog and civilopedia don't work at all. Nothing happens when I try to bring them up. Once I launch a game, there's absolutely no GUI whatsoever - the hot keys work but once again the options dialog and civilopedia don't come up. I can't bring up any of the advisers either and F1-F12 do nothing. I use Vista Home Basic 32 bit SP 2, and I've done the tweaks recommended in the HoF Vista fixes page. 1.74.003 has been running fine on my machine since a few weeks and works perfectly even now - only 1.74.004 is giving the above mentioned problems. I've double checked and made sure that I've granted all the necessary permissions for the folders in questions. Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

You might want to reapplying the first fix if you haven't since installing 1.74.001. It may be having problems reading the new mod folder.

Yes, I've already done that (and did it again hoping that doing it yet again would somehow yield different results :D ) No change though - still stuck with all the problems I've posted above :(

I just installed 1.74.004 and have the same problem as masked_zorro. There is nothing on the screen except the land and units, no GUI or any control buttons at all.

I am also running Vista 32 bit and had no problems with 1.74.003. Any help is welcome.
