Progress Faction Never Ending Story

Its my first never ending story. I picked AC maybe because I read too many Strugatskiy's books or maybe I wanted my NES to be a little different from those Civ 3 ones.
Anyway here it is:

United by our love of scientific discovery, mutual aid and care for the new planet we are determined to succeed in buiding a new home for humanity."

..."Sometimes I think we made a mistake of splitting the crew. I realize that without clear authority following the death of Captain Garland this was the only way. But I think the Humanity may achieve more if faction leaders didn't quarrel with one another.
Today, following the Big Meeting, our faction is collecting all instruments and resources allocated to our group and transferring them to our Pod. From now on we are officially divided.
Fortunatelly the Meeting didn't turn into a bloodbath. I hear that the Leaders came out of the meeting concentrated and upset. Next time the might meet each other no agreement will bind them. God knows what may happen down there! We should have left all our quarrels back Home, Humanity cannot afford them any longer.
I doubt that splitting our resources this early helps our Mission. But now, so far from Home, we are setting new goals. The Mission as we thought of it is now over. As I undersand we are commencing a race against each other, competing for the title of "best human organization philosophy". The Landing is in 3 days"....

Unknown technitian's bibliographical diary titled "A Letter Home".

For those who spend most of their life in space Earth now seems distant and lost for us.
After we lost contant with Home we feared the worst. Now "centauring" on the surface of the planet we realize how fortunate the crew of Unity was. Now with more than 6000 years of experience and accumulated knowledge the Earthers are given a second chance on this planet. We intend to use it and care for the planet. We will not repeat the tragedy of Earth. Whatever happened there we will not harm the planet and will not be destroyed. Living in these new conditions is a challenge but we have no choice but to face it. And survive.

Our orbital disoveries allow us to see that we are located on the southern tip of the North Continent. Following the tradition to make this planet our second Home the continents were named Laurasia (in the North) and Gondwana (in the South). A sea in between the two is now to be known as the Great Mediterrean Sea.

A year after the Planetfall we have established our primary base. The surrounding areas are well known to us. Fortunatelly or unfortunatelly we have not discovered any advanced life forms on the Planet. Primitive fungus type aborigenal life forms are all that our biologists were able to find. Unfortunatelly we could not find any usefull task for these life forms. We think fugus is well spread on this planet so we will not do the planet much harm in removing some of it to construct modules in strategic places. A year after planetfall all ugrent tasks have been performed and I'm sending out a large group of scouts who are to discover nearby lands and investigate objects that may be of atifisual origin.

Scouts discovered a couple of supply pods for the unity that were brought by them to Progress Base with no delay. One of the pods contained a group of Unity Rovers. Unity was equipped with a number of vehicles for exploration of the new planet. After long debated the members of the Big Meeting decided that such Pods, containing Agricultual materials or vehicles, need to be scatered around the planet to let Ifni decide who gets which pods. Due to being manufactured on Earth Unity Rovers are an extermely fast rovers. But before rovers stasis was developed by technitians on the Planet Unity Rover were the best means of discovrey!

Unity Rovers proved to our advantage when a secound group of scouts went to the East in an attempt to discover lands beyond a small ridge. Pod discovered along the way tapped an undergroud river which immediatelly rose to the surface. Fortunatelly the scouts suffered no losses.

The area beyond the ridge recieved a name of Great Dunes, however it was rich in minerals. The extent of the Dunes makes us believe that this planet may be more of a desert planet. True or not, our technology allows us to survive even on a mostly desert planet.

2106 saw a discovery most extraordinary. Pavlov's Western Scout Group was headed North-West of our base in an attempt to cross over a small mountain a explore lands around a lake, when scanners picked up bio-activity. Soon spots of green color appeared on the horizon. Pavlov suspected that he had discovered a base of another faction. Weapons were readied and a report was send to motherbase. An order was recieved to continue advancing. Having move forward the group discovered....TREES! Real earthly looking trees. There are no words to describe what effect it had on the scouts. People cheered, laughed, some ran around in cirlces. Some older humans who remembered Earth were seen with tears in their eyes. This was a day of glory! A day of celabration. The planet itself welcomed us! we have found our new home. Earhters are no longer conquerors, but guests of the planet. Later the date became a "Green Day" holiday.
Further exploration showed that Unity Seeds Pod had crushed in this area and trees expanded in the area. Speciments were taken to the motherbase. The rest of the forest, which alerady seemed endless, was left with a feeling of content and happines. Analysis of speciments taken showed the biologists that somehow earth trees adopted themselves to the planets atmosphere. For earth trees the planet was heaven. The exact process that took place was not discovered for 6 more years.

In 2108 Progress scientists made a first breakthrough in science since the Planetfall! Efforst of the first years of the colony were spent on collecting data and establishing ourselves. The breakthough showed the people that we have advanced beyond Earth and are now beyond the narrow interests of surviving. We are moving ahead! If the other factions have suvived and met the same conditions as we have I doubt that they could have made a scientific breakthough as fast as we. After all Progress facion has all of the brightest minds of Unity.

2108 Eastern Rover Scout Group discovered a starnge monolyth at the North! This clearly artifisual creation finally answered the question that occupied millions of minds for manyu years! Yes, we are not alone! Security meaures were increased and scouting of the area was slowed down. Further discoveries showed no evidence of Centauries, so security measures taken in 2108 were abandoned.

2111 was a glorious year: a monitoring station in the Great Dunes was established and quickly grew into a full self-suporting base. "Great Dunes Station" became a symbol of humans slow, but constant advance in the new world. New base self-sufficiency experience opened a way to grand colonization of the whole continent. A plan to expand into the new territories was drafted and coordinated with land discovery scout plan. Colonization shall begin!

In the next year (2112) Progress scientists discovered the Secrets of Human Brain! A discovery that boosted our research and helped the scientists discover Centauri Ecology the same year! At last the mystery of earth trees adaptation was discovered. Techitians finished prototypes of vehicles that could help terraform terrain and plant trees. We get more and more control of the planet.
