Had a thought about promotion icons for units that I thought might be nice if it's possible.

For enemy units the promotion icons would only show once that unit has been engaged in combat. That way we wouldn't know how battle seasoned a unit was, or how quickly it could move across certain terrain until it's measure had been taken in combat.

This just seemed a little more realistic to me since I really shouldn't be able to tell that the unit that just came over the hill is raw or veteran by just looking. Might add a bit of strategy if you have to decide whether to engage a unit early or wait till it's right on you to find out which promotions it has.

That feature is already in place, it is enabled by disabling the FlagPromotions and reverting to the vanilla game.:D:mischief:

All jokes aside. This is the vanilla way of doing it. The first time you engage an enemy you see, in the combat panel that appears, the various boosts or penalties that are applied. If by the projected outcome stats you think it is best to retreat then you do so.

The unmodded game reveals enemy promotions when we hover over units. You can see their promotions in the bottom-left unit panel. CIN simply presents this information in a heads-up way.

It's possible to hide promotions in the bottom-left, but that wouldn't change things much. We could still deduce the promotions from combat statistics as we hover over enemies. Seeing the promotions of allies makes sense... so the only thing we might change is hiding promotions of neutral units. Weighing the cost-benefit... it would take time to accomplish that, and I'm unsure if it would increase the game's fun level enough to prioritize this over other tasks we need to do.
