Proper Installation

Well, if you ever have an afternoon to burn try installing the media pack again and see if it breaks you down again, or it was just a 1 time fluke. I am certain that if it does cause FfH to stop loading Kael would be interested in knowing about it.

in the past when i did install it i installed it where the built in installer used for default which is c:/program files/ firaxis/ sid mieiersblah/beyondthesword/mods

my gut feeling is it shouldnt be in mods but somewhere else im going to reread your instructions at the beggining of the thread

The media pack needs to install to the same location as the main mod installed in, so it should be something which ends with /mods, just like when you installed the patch & game.

Creation Mapscript would be saved in the Public Maps folder (right beside the Mods folder), as for other scenarios I am not entirely sure. I think that so far most of them are worldbuilder saves, so I guess the quickest way to find out would be to save a game in worldbuilder and then do a quick search of your harddrive for that filename (make it unique).

well the media pack was in the bts/mods folder but the game crashed for me when it was there .. as soon as i removed it it works fine now

No .bak files. I dont understand that, why can i play with your config, but i cant when i change a thing? Cant change name / map size / etc.

one more thing xienwolf should the media pack be installed in civ4/bts/mods/ffh.30 folder or just civ4/bts/mods folder?

Just bts/mods folder. From there it will set itself up properly for going into the FfH 030 folder.

ShaK: Have you tried changing the options in the main menu instead of while in game? Maybe that will work better. Go to Advanced --> Options

Well, in the .ini, scroll down to the section starting with [GAME]

Anything you change beyond there should start to get your back to your normal settings (like name any whatnot), and will hopefully stick without causing you to crash.

Even changing the name from "Xienwolf" to "Marco" (my name) causes a crash. Isnt there a repair mode for civ4?

Downloading at 200kb/s. Go Gameflood! (still don't like their click-three-times-to-download design, but hey, if I can help FFH by downloading from that page, I'll gladly click three times)

xienwolf know what i am thinking the media pack i had originaly downloaded was with the gameflood d/l manager i am going to redownload it without it and see if it still breks my install

FWIW, media pack is crashing me out left and right also. 3.13 is installed (and re-installed to be sure) and I run just fine when running patched 2.031e without the pack.

To be clear, if I load the game without the media pack, it takes me to game just fine. If I install the media pack (to the correct directory), the game crashes from the Play Now / Custom Game "Start" prior to any units/movies showing up. It'll show most of the loading progress and then it quits with a generic "program encountered an error and had to shut down" error.

The one just released. I'm trying a full re-install of all components now, just to give it one last try and see if anything may have been neglected the first go-round.

Hi, I got the initial mod and the patch to work and decided to go get the media pack for additional fun. But that's when my problem started - after I installed the mediapack received some missing resources messages. I decided to just delete the folder then reinstall the mod.

Now it doesn't crash - it just doesn't work; when I try to play FfH I get the Fall From Heaven notation on the upper right but all it shows is vanilla Civ4. Anyone here knows how to fix this? I've deleted and installed it again several times already.
