As you know, war with the Aztecs is looming on the horizon. It is inevitable that we are going to capture several Aztec cities in the fighting. Currently, we have an accepted proposal that will make Azteca a province once captured. But I am here today with a different idea: set up an occupational regime, complete with President and Councillors. This is the basic concept:

We capture the cities of Tenochtitlan, Teotihuacan, Tlatelolco, and Texcoco. Rather than immediately making them part of a province, we set up the "nation" of Teotihuacan Azteca. Tenochtitlan was the old Aztec capital, but the seat of gov't. for the new country is the city of Teotihuacan. We elect a "President" who effectively rules the Aztec cities, but has to get everything OK'd by the Fanatikan President. And if the gov't. of Fanatika says jump, the Aztec gov't. has to do it. Under the President are several National Councillors, each one ruling a particular city (like a mayor) and making up a congress, or National Council. Again, they must always refer to and cooperate with the Fanatikan gov't. for all decisions. In times of peace, the Aztec gov't. maintains and controls its own military for use in police work, anti-barbarian campaigns, and defense. However, in a time of war for Fanatika, the Aztec army falls into the control of the Military Advisor. The Aztecs could also decide on their own laws, currency, etc. (also regulated by Fanatika.) There are other aspects, but I'll go into those later.

Now you might ask "how would this help us?" Honestly, it is designed mostly to add fun and a new roleplay aspect to the game, as well as to get new people involved in government. However, it can also do awa with problems such as having too large a Fanatikan congress, having to worry about dividing captured areas into provinces, and having the same small group of gov't. officials having to worry about constantly expanding foreign territory (I.E. the Domestic and Military departments.)

Questions? Comments? The more discussion the better.

Let's keep it simple. This is a creative idea for the RPG, though we should stick with appointing a governor for an province consisting of Aztec cities after we've capture three of them.

Elect a president for that province... Kind of sounds like my Game of Republic idea. :D But, the Demogame is already complex as it is...

Game of Republic? Haven't heard of that one...... heard someone mention a Theocracy Game once..... anyway, I suppose you guys are right that the ame is complex enough as is...... but it would add some flavor to the government..... surprised Ehcatl hasn't responded yet, I would figure he would want to be the Aztec President.....

i love this idea! it does sound like an awful lot of fun, and i certainly want to be involved somehow if you decide to go ahead with this. please, everybody, please...?

Finally! A supporter! I think this could work and would be really fun if we tried it..... true, it'd be a lot of work, but so is the demogame in general. Please, we need more discussion.

I can't say I like the idea... too many layers of government just makes it a lot harder to get anything done - which can be hard enough as it is. This proposal would also deprive us of a senator, which is hardly a good thing considering that we currently have only the one and could really do with another to prevent a single individual having an uncounterable ammendment veto.

I think Grandmaster has an extremely intriguing idea. I would love to try it...

...in Demo Game 3.

I fear that the changes necessary to impliment this during the existing game would be too severe and all encompassing to make this idea feasable. However, I recommend that we continue to flesh it out further for future use. It is this kind of approach that might allow us to keep players interested once PTW hits the streets.

Good idea Bill. As we saw with the RPG, the idea was born in the previous demogame and implemented in the next. If anybody likes the proposal, we can work out the details and get something going for next time.

This would be something that coud be completely carried out in the RPG. The 'President' would act as the governor, while his 'council' are the various mayors of the cities.

However, the sheer amount of work needed to make this official would be overwhelming, and without many resultes.

Hmmm...a puppet government...sounds good for the RPG but for the demogame it's just too complex as it is. We could play it out in the RPG forum, I'm all for it...Me? aztec president? you can't trust me with that! I'll probably be the first one to lead the revolt! :king: hahahaha
On second thought.....:satan:
