pros and cons of spreading corp to AI

How is screwing them up with a corporation any different than doing so with a stack of guys or a spy? Or a diplomatic overture to a rival of theirs causing them to attack?

Isn't that the point of the game, to use what you have to both further yourself and then drag down the other guy also?

The difference my friend is that with a spy, you pay 4000EP (which is equivalent to gold) PER espionage mission that is effective, or 300EP per low espionage mission.

This mission effects only 1 city, and it effects it for 8 turns (whilst the big espionage missions can be something along the lines of stealing techs).

But for 1500:gold: you can spread your corps (and the AI will even help you) and you completely demolish the civ from the game AND you make a huge profit whilst you're at it.

Something just doesn't seem right does it? It seems like "Espionage Version3 - The return of the super espionage"

I played as Spain, made an intercontinental conquest of Egypt (finally I could use conquestadores for some conquest!). The maintainance was killing me, but my plan was to make a colony out of them. I did, they became America (I thought they would be Portugal, but rather Cha/Exp than Exp/Imp in that stage of the game). I made them adopt Free market and then I sent all my corporations executives there. It tanked their economy in the beginning but I made hundreds of gpt on them and had them as a side kick in the UN.

I also understand why the West were so pissed off on communist nations IRL ;). The same game after I had spread corporations to Sitting Bull and Churchill they adopted state property, making my investments useless. I had to bee line to the UN to make the world adopt environmentalism. It cost me a lot but the refund I got from my HQs made it up. My exploited Washington then helped me to a diplomatic victory.

I really like the game in the game around corporations and colonies, and I love the new conquestadores! Next game as Spain I hope I will come across Monty for a historical reenactment ;)

Judge, Jury and Executioner, i am the Law :joke:

No im just agreeing with views of quite a few people, inflation of over 200% pushing costs of corporations and other things into the 1000s just seems a bit wrong.

I thought they were meant to be used to gives some bonuses for a cost, and you spread them to earn some money. I dont think they meant to be weapons to cripple the economies of your enemies so they cant afford to research or own an army

I didnt know of this problem... dissapointing, but I'm sure it will be fixed in a future patch. I havent reached the point where I have built a corp yet... what happens when you build corps on your own territory? I hope it doesnt exceed 5 gold cost for yourself!?

In the later years the cost of a corp is around 60-100 gold per turn per city.
