I am flying to Los Angeles, and I want to bring my PS2. Obviously, I never check the piece of luggage with it inside, as it would get tossed around too much. My question is, if I bring the PS2 as a carry on, inside a bag... will the x-ray/metal detector stuff and crap, screw up my PS2 when I go through security? I know it messes up camera film and stuff, so I just wanted to make sure. Anyone know?

I send my laptop through the Xray machine at airports fairly often, and I've never had any problems with it. it had no effect on the hard drive.

edit: i'm sure the PS2 will be fine, seeing as how the only storage device you might considder worrying about on it is the memory card. you coud just put that in your pocket, or pack it in your checked luggage along with your games. otherwise, the PS2 is just hardware, scanning it will do nothing.

and regarding films, I had no problem with having my ASP being x-rayed or perhasp I was luckey.

The PS2 will not be damaged. I send my laptop and GBAs through airport security all the time. However, they may need to scan your PS2 seperately like they do for laptops, but I wouldn't know.

Although, I remember a government concern with the PS2, right after its release, concerning some of the internal components being used as missile guidance systems.

PlayStation 2: A Military Threat?

April 17, 2000

Japanese trade officials have placed trade restrictions on Sony's PlayStation 2 because of concerns that the gaming system could be used for a military processor. The fear is due to PlayStation 2's high-speed graphic processing. Theoretically, the processor could be removed from the console and used in missile guidance systems. For example, a missile like a Tomahawk needs to locate its destination as it flies through the air and use high-speed graphic processing to pinpoint its target.

I doubt it has any merit with your current concerns, though. I just found this interesting.

Yeah, because PS2 is so much better than Gamecube. ;)

Are you feeling right? You've been acting strangely ever since that Suit Wearing Chimp Party thing in the Model Parliament.

I was sarcastic about the PS2 thing - I think GC is better (if that is what you are referring to.)

And if you think I'm odd because I bring up consoles in a thread like this...well how can I not?

In 2000, the GC was still nowhere to be seen....

Wow, didn't think someone would post a 4-year old article.

:crazyeye:

I guess that article makes sense though, back in 2000 I thought the PS2 was the most amazing thing ever too. ;)
