PS2 Help

Ok this is weird, i've been without my PS2 for 3 months now. Here is the problem, I wanted to play Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, the game was put in the drive, and it didn't respond! I tried the same with Sims Bustin Out, same happened! I even tried NFL Street 2. Can you guess what happened? You guessed it!

What is the problem with my Playstation 2?

Blowing into a cartridge slot and into a disk drive are two very different things.

Do your disks have scratches in them? Is your PS2 an old model? I believe there was something about the PS2's disc reading laser not working.

Try sending it back to Sony, if you can.

This may sound foolish, but is it plugged in? Are the disks trying to spin? If they are, try cleaning/adjusting the lens.

The DVD drives are cheapo crap on PS2. Even the really expensive devkits suffer from dodgy drives so you can't run discs in half of them.

Try turning the console 90 degrees to the floor or even more, like almost on its top. Weird but worked on mine.

Don't know if they still do this, probably don't but their drives were so bad that they actually fix them for free without proof of purchase. I sent mine in like 3 times over the course of about 8 or 9 years. Give them a call.

Does it make a loud noise when spinning the discs?

I had that problem. I opened it up (after the guarantee expired) and used canned air on the laser head, that seemed to work alright for some games (others still didnt work). If you can, and nothing else works, send it in.
