I voted no. Call me a pessimist, but after all the trouble getting the current patches and the editor (thanks for all your hard work Brad), and with the IPX coding of PTW, I don't see it as a probability.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see it. But I would rather assume it isn't coming and be pleasantly surprised, than assume it is and be disappointed.

what if they just released a patch that would allow us mac gamers to play scenarios created by PC makers...I think that would be cool while waiting for an official PTW expansion...

and yes, i think they'll port it, because "I Believe"

This is what's wrong with capatilisim and democracy. Everything is about the bottom line and money. Maybe we should switch to communism, and force rush the making of the PTW port, although it would cost the lives of a few programers, and than switch back to democracy. Although that 5 to 10 years of anarchy would be a problem since we are not a religous bunch. Wait, oh I am back in the real world, not civing now, have to get back to reality. No PTW for a long, long time.

I'm torn! I've got Civ3 loaded on my school toshiba, and I'm itching to run out and buy PTW. I just don't want to tote the laptop home everynight. Nor, do I want to break ranks. I know I'll buy a mac port. Of course, the headmaster might think I'm working overtime! ;)

I voted yes, however, I'm sure that it's going to take a long, long, long time.

Let me preface this: I'll be tickled for three low-productivity months just by tinkering with an editor. Even our lil' ol' 1.21 editor will be able to change rules, make maps and add units. Now, having said that...
:undecide: I'd like PtW on my Mac. It would definitely be cool to be able to play with other humans (whole different set of treaties and war-declartation factors). Honestly, though, most of the PtW lure for me comes in other engine capabilities and editing options. Having the "King" unit, for instance. Being able to place actual cities instead of just starting positions (IIRC, something you can't do in our [upcoming] editor version)...
 So, if we don't get PtW how bad will it be to be stuck with PwY? (Joke all you want...) Do we have alternatives? Or at least alternatives worth a nag campaign? I'd suggest these potential candidates for this game's future:
1) PtW, Full version. Obviously. We pay for it. (And we would.)
2) PtW Lite, Mac-interaction only. The easiest Direct X bypass. We pay for it.
3) 1.30a. Some Mac-only update version that gives us at least 1.29 functionality and maybe a bell or whistle from PtW (like the King unit). I'm not above bribing Westlake here...

What do you think? Any other alternatives you could forsee?

Very interesting. We have all been assuming that any Mac Civ III release will be a port of an existing PC version. As you correctly point out, it doesn't have to be that way. Trouble is, it's not Westlake that needs to be bribed here, it's MacSoft. I don't think it's too likely, however, since it would require considerable negotiating to get the right to change the game. Great idea, though! :goodjob:

Bought it, for my toshiba (under my "Civ3 Club" budget I started at my middle school). Currently playing Arabia on Matt's world map. Barbs behave differently, they don't attack towns right away. I think I preferred their predictablility. ;) I'm playing against all the new civs plus three random original civs.

So many options available. I mean a lot! Its got to come to the mac.

I voted Yes, because...
... because it must, because I want it and thousands of others want it, because we have the money and the god-given right to spend it on the platform we want to support, because good always triumphs over evil even if it takes a few months, because ... because I want it to.

Saw this on the CFC splash screen:
"TETurkhan: Test of Time v1.66"
Read it. Looks pretty cool.
It's another reason we need 1.29 & PTW on Mac.
