I hada thread earlir about not being able to establish embassies and I think everyone else had PTW or Conquests etc as they were telling me to press buttons that weren't there.

Now here's my questions - PTW is just basically the multiplayer for Civ II, but what is Conquests.

If I have Civ III 1.29f, should I get Conquests as it contains PTW?
Also, what happens to patches? I see that PTW's latest patch is 1.27f, but I have 1.29f for Civ III.

I'm rather confused!

From my knowledge of Civ3 and C3C its best to treat them as separate games as the patches for one game does not affect the other and they both have separate saved game folders etc. I assume this is the same for PTW.

Conquests is PTW plus even more civs and some specially made scenarios.

Civ3 is the original game.

PTW is an ADD-ON, providing more civilizations and other extras. Plus the multiplayer functionality.

C3C(Conquests) is yet another (newer)ADD-ON, containing most of what was in PTW and then some more.

When you have Civ3 + C3C you do not really need PTW.

And if you're playing C3C you only need to apply C3C patches.

EDIT: for multiplayer, you need to have the same as the other players has. I do not think you can mix PTW and C3C in a multiplayer game.

It doesn't matter whether you need it or not, cause it's included in the C3C package. :)

I recently bought Conquests (and only had vanilla CivIII from before), and after install I can play vanilla CivIII, PTW or Conquests (each has its separate folder).
