PumaSNES1: For Real This Time

From Britain

To Byzantine:
Wanna start a trade route?

To Spain:
We gladly agree to your trade proposal.

***

Britain
ORDERS:
-grow economy
-start a trade route with Spain
-start one with Byzantine too if they accept
-start a great project, "London Lyseion of War and Philosophy", +5000 men, +2 military training levels, +2 education levels.

***

In the great temple of London, King Arthur was crowned the king of all England in the lord's year 807. It was the birthyear of "Newer England", as the time would later be called; England would soon reach it's golden age, and king Arthur did many great deeds, he unified the laws in the kingdom, formed good relations to some good nations, such as Spain, and started the legendary project, the Lyseion of War and Philosophy in London.
Indeed, England had received a competent king for itself. Now it would be set up for glory.

Puma, why dont we make it a little bit harder to just build wonders? Just putting blah blah +6 armies and taking 5 turns doesn't make sense... I think we should make a rule that your economy cannot go under such and such or else production stops and it must be placed in a certain city, so if it is captured during the development, then the effects can go to the capturerer. What do you think?

amirsan- i agree with the wonder thing, probably won't do the city thing but i will make it even harder to get wonders, in addition to the fact you only get 2 per age. and note, if you wanted +4 army, it wouldn't take 3 turns, it'd take 5 or 6, before.....

update maybe today, hopefully, could be late though

A trade route would be great, but unfortunately our borders are not quite connected conveniently. Perhaps an agreement through Spain would allow us to have a more continual connection?

(OOC: When is the next update?)

From Espania
To Byzantine and Brittania:

The passage is free for our two friends. Use it as you wish and may the trade be profitable. :)

yah i can delay, i'll do it when i wake up in the morn, or afternoon, depending on how late i'm up.... but i did answer your diplo

mstk- about 6 turns

Orders
-continue wonder, Cossack Manifest Destiny (+4 army, +2 mood) 6/7
-increase training of army

-claim the northern lands, west of the river (I think its the Ob) as Cossackian.

-keep half of army around the South half, and the other half around the North half

ORDERS
-Now do the same thign I did to the northern trade routes with the south. Connect all the trade routes with caravans from my ships.
-Raise economy by once again prospering from the trade route.
-You did not add my wonder, so this turn it should be at 2.
-Explore to the east and up the Red Sea to find more trading partners. If possible, trek across the Sinai to the other side.

Orders:

Increase economy from... improving local infrastructure, I guess.
Be on guard everywhere.

Start wonder: Great Temple of Mahadah (+10 culture, +2 education)

Well, you should have enough orders now...

In the far east the Mongols have ceased their attacks on Tibet seeing that their advance is going nowhere in the massive mountains that comprise the Himalayas. The two have agreed on current borders.

In Korea the Japanese and Koreans continue their stalemate at the Pusan perimeter. Neither side is able to mount a final assault on the other and the result is more years of stalemate and death.

Canada, looking to break out of the encirclement of it’s enemies attack’s it’s closest friend, the Sioux. The Attacks take the Sioux massively by surprise and their army is routed in many of the opening battles. But being the warlike people they are, and know that deep down the Canadians are always aggressive they prepared for this, but it would seem not well enough. The Sioux army is beaten back until it reaches the Missouri river, and there they put up a heroic stand. They hold there and put out pleas to it’s former enemies in the Northern Alliance, all nations who hate Canada with a passion, to take up arms once again against the feared Canadian foe. Spies for Jonathan Shade tell him that the Northern Alliance armies are once more on the move but have only moved to the borders of Canada, none have crossed the border in an offensive action, yet… (also see next paragraph for trade info)

Great Honduras slowly crawls out of economic despair, through no action of the government, but by private merchants. They put all good that would go to other nations and instead sell those at greatly discounted prices to their own citizens. It is wildly popular and despite low profits for a few seasons it gets money back into the hands of the average citizen. The Honduran on the street starves no longer. (Canada incurs no benefit from Honduran trade this turn)

Sinhala continues on it’s campaign of ridding the Indian Sea of pirate activity and is again wildly successful, trade again flourishes in Sinhala and coupled with the wondrous project going on in the capital (I seem to have deleted that PM, so if you could either remember or resend it to me, that’d be great, I apologize). However, the merchant expedition that Sinhala sent to the middle east finds itself in the middle of a great war. The expedition makes port in the city of Aqaba and the overzealous Islamic commander there doesn’t bother to find out who they are and executes them and seizes the ships for the Islamic navy. (2 escort ships to Islamic Empire)

The Cossacks, remain peaceful at home and focus their attention on grabbing more wilderness to the north. Once again however they see only minor success as the expeditions are poorly equipped for the northern cold and those from the warm steppes of the south are unprepared for the harsh conditions.

The Middle East continues to be the largest battleground yet seen in the world. The extremely well trained Islamic Armies finish up destroying Egypt and end up pinning the remaining Egyptian and Bosnian troops on the beaches. Unable to escape the combine Christian army is destroyed almost to a man. They continue their assault into Tripoli and advance completely across the desert and are within sight of Tripoli, the capital. In the dead though it is found to be about 200 troops from Espania inside Tripoli fighting side by side with them. In Anatolia the Islamic armies meet with success despite rather heavy casualties. They nearly crush the Assyrian army but reinforcements from Byzantium, fresh from Lombardy hold them outside the city of Ankara. The Armenians allow more Byzantium troops into their country for a combined attack southward toward the Euphrates River. The Islamic troops fortify Mosul and the battle is joined there, both sides suffer large casualties. One thing of note, the Byzantine Armies are becoming more knowledgeable about war as it drags on. (+Byzantine training)
(btw Erez, all the nations south of Egypt are Christian with the exception of Adal, which is polytheistic)

In the confusion of the Fall of Egypt the Islamic armies captured a high ranking diplomat for Espania. He won’t talk as to why he was there and it is now left to the Islamic commanders to deal with this prisoner.

Espania announces a commonwealth with Tripoli. Both nations retain independence but have closer trade and military ties.

Trade
Geystral - Vietnam (1/3)
Espania - Berbers (1/3), Britian (0/3), Tripoli (0/3)
Sinhala - Magdah (0/3), Satavahanihara (2/3), Arabia (2/3), Gupta (2/3), Burma (0/3)
Arabia - Sinhala (0/3)
Japan - Yamato (1/3)
Canada - Honduras (0/3)
Britian - Espania (0/3), Byzantium (0/3)

Diplomacy
Pope:
to ALL Christian Nations:
A Christian Nation has fallen to Islam! Another is on the verge of defeat. I call on all Christians of the world to do their best in fighting this scourge. All kings must send their armies to fight or I will excommunicate them.

Glad to see my Napoleon/Blitzkrieg imitation didn't really fail...

IC:

From: Canada
To: Sioux

You have beaten back to your natural borders. The main task of any army is to PROTECT own land. You failed to protect the land that we have conquered, whilst we are perfectly capable to holding on to it.

I propose peace at current borders. It would be... a challenge for you to try to recover any parts of the lands you lost due to your army's weakness.

(btw Erez, all the nations south of Egypt are Christian with the exception of Adal, which is polytheistic)

I DO remember that you mentioned that ONE of them is Muslim before. Erez tried to convince them to join him, but failed. IMHO it was Makkura?

"Expansion, you say?" - grinned Jonathan Shade - "Living space? Breaking of THE ENCIRCLEMENT?"

The Warlords didn't enjoy this, but they knew that they were powerless against Shade.

"Well, how should we break it if all our neighbours are allied?"

No reply. The Warlords were dumbfounded.

"If they were, it would have been harder. But one of them is our "friend" and an enemy of the northerners. The Sioux."

"They are our allies!" - shouted one of them. Jonathan shook his head.

"Nobody is an ally. They pretend to be our allies, but if they were to see a sign of weakness they would be the first to strike at us. They are poised at our border and will be the hardest to beat back.

Which is why I believe we must strike there. Warlords! I have a cunning plan. We will not charge at them like some fools, but we will launch an attack of three armies, transported by our fleet. I will lead a maritime strike force to land at the Sioux port of... Obewaga. Pierre, you will march into Transohia, my army will outflank the enemies and they will be CRUSHED against the river... those who do escape while we consolidate our hold over Transohia will die at your hands, John - you will land on the other side of Lake Michigan and secure the other coast of the river. We will shatter the Sioux army and drive it all the way to that barbaric river of theirs... ah, yes. To next year - in Mississippi!"

There was silence. And then there was applause. This was a brilliant plan.

---

That was a brilliant plan, but Shade didn't expect such brilliant opponents. No, Tehumbaka was a moron, he was easily crushed and even now was being tortured for information. But Mehiatha proved to be much smarter, and HIS army not only retreated out of Transohia fast enough to meet up with the main Sioux forces, but later pulled back to Mississippi. Problem was that Mehiatha outtricked himself. Albeit the casualties were much smaller then Shade expected... his enemy effectively locked himself on that side of the Mississippi. That was what Shade wanted from them, albeit this meant that the enemy could still perhaps launch a counter-offensive.

Shade sighed. This was rather opportunistic of him, to invade the Sioux. He should have known that the Northerners would use it. Ofcourse, back at home there were quite enough forces, but...

That said, his conquest of the Sioux lands put him in an excellent position. He wasn't as stupid as to assume that everything will go easily. He had a good backup plan. Canada itself will hold. He now needed to deal with the problems HERE.
