Yeah, good one. Allow me to say, though, that mine is not THAT complicated :)
 
Scuse the delay. Real world getting in the way of that which is truly important.

A bit of a different chess puzzle: cut the chessboard below into four pieces of the same size and shape. All cuts must be on the grid lines, and each piece must have one ruby on it (but the ruby can be anywhere on that piece)

The answer is 7.

Start at a corner and move as a knight toward the other side the same way each time, and when you can't go more towards the edge, go one row downwards and fill in the columns continuing in the pattern before.
