Quantity vs Diversity of resources

Building more mana nodes of the same type gives arcane units free bonuses. The more you have the more free upgrades you get. I think the same principle should apply to all resources.

For example, if you have pigs you get +1:food in all cities. If you have cows you get the same type of bonus. However, if you have 7 pigs you get the same ammount of bonus as 1. I think it would be cool if quanity of resources get a small bonus besides just being able to trade them (Im not talking about the happiness and health bonus just the :food::hammers::commerce: bonus given to all cities). If I get more than 1 iron, I dont want to trade it to my enemies, (or even my friends who I want to end up conquering in the end). But having more resources is always a good thing, except in civ. I think having 3 copper should give +3:hammers: in all cities instead of only +1:hammers:, having 3 rice should give +3:food: instead of +1:food:. and other resources like dye could give more :commerce: as well.

Implimenting this doesnt seem like it would take a whole lot (although im not familiar with the code) and it makes sense (100 cows = more food than 1 cow and 1 pig). Its not overpowered as multiple resourses are not always easy to attain and the bonus is relatively small. As well it encourages expansion (I see that the Hippius have 2 coppers over there, I think I want them. ATTACK!)

I completely agree with you it is one of the flaws which FfH2 has inherited from vanilla game.

Quantitative resources would probably require a great effort, but something like the mana system would certainly be doable and improve greatly gameplay.

Resources don't actually give that +1 bonus indicated on the trade screen. It just signifies whether it is a strategic, health or luxury iirc.

@Quotey You are right they dont give you a bonus indicated. I think it should though. And give mutiple bonus for multiple resources.

Have you tried Orbi Modmod?
It incorporates corporations into FFH, some of which give extra bonuses to your civ if you have a number of resources, meaning that there is a reason to have more than one of one resource.
Regards.

I played the previous version and never run into a problem. Yesterday it was updated to FFH0.33g so I haven't tried it yet. I have not used it in multiplayer games, sorry. It has it's own thread, so I'm sure you can find information on multiplayer games or even ask Ahwaric there.

I tried to make Orbi as stable as possible and use the simplest methods to achieve my goals as possible. But you never know...

It is no SDK mod yet, just python & xml.

I did not play a multiplayer game for some time, but it used to be stable - the only problem being OOS.
If you decide to play it, please let me know what do you think :)

@Ahwaric - wow! I mean wow, I am already addicted to orbi modmod! Awsome job man! I hope its stable for multiplayer Im going to play a game tomorrow with my cousin to test it out. Have you checked out the Reworking forts, castles thread? I think this would be an awsome addition to Orbi, especially since archers can already bombard. anyways so far I love it: good job.
