This sweater with flags on it, are the flags supposed to be scandinavian?

The blue and yellow could be swedish. The red and yellow could be scandian or danish. The rest I don't know...

Maybe the flags are nautical?

It's from "2 broke girls" and the guy is an asian immigrant who's trying very hard to adapt to american culture. Maybe the patern is very "american"?

The lower right reminds me of Åland, but it lacks the yellow bit. And the lower left like Norway without the white bit.

edit: Or Iceland of course.

Technically, yellow cross on red background is Skåneland (Denmark is white cross on red background).

The two flags below may be simplified versions of Norway and Iceland, without the white outline. Or maybe those 4 are indeed nautical flags.

But anyway, the most important thing about the sweater is that it's awfully ugly.

I know. I'm danish myself. ;) Thats why I have a special interest in it. :D

If you do like flags, the yellow cross on red background is also the medieval oriflamme of Saint-Denis, whose together with Saint-Martin, one of the patrons of the City of Paris.

The flag of Paris is actually blue and red as the two colours of its patrons (the chappe of Saint-Martin being blue with fleur de lys).

And eventually, the French flag put the Royal white in the middle of the red and blue of Paris, symbolizing the reconciliation between the King (who was living in Versailles) and the people (living in Paris). Few years later we decided to cut his head off but the flag was kept and eventually became a Republican symbol.

They look like generic maritime flags to me.

BTW Someone didn't have a good Christmas.

Brahe, you have the best profile picture ever.

Thanks. I love The IT Crowd :D

I don't know much about maritime flags, but as far as I can tell, the only one used on the sea is the red/yellow one. It spells the letter R.

Why do tou say that?

Maybe they're random colors and patterns.

Could be. :)

But since when are sweater knitters experts on maritime flags and signals?

Whoever made it just wanted a nautical looking sweater with some random flags on it.

The blue and yellow flag is Swedish. One of the flags on the sweater is Danish, so I assume the Norwegian flag is also there. Since it's a Scandinavian-themed sweater, it would be reasonable to assume that the fourth flag is Iceland.
