When do you get to chose your own rank? In other words, when will I stop being stuck as "Chieftain" Can someone please explain da system?

Well, I should just point you to the Forum Rules, ;)

But here's the pertinant part:
Postcount titles & avatars.
Each poster has a title and an optional avatar image shown below his/her username. The default titles are Chieftain, Warlord, Prince, King, Emperor, and Deity. The minimum postcounts required are listed below:

Chieftain (Minimum Posts: 0)
Warlord (Minimum Posts: 100)
Prince (Minimum Posts: 300)
King (Minimum Posts: 600)
Emperor (Minimum Posts: 1000)
Deity (Minimum Posts: 1500)

You can give yourself a custom title once you have 30 posts. You can also put a picture, or avatar, under your name. There are hundreds of Civish avatars for you to choose from. If you have 300 or more posts, you can give yourself a custom (non-animated) avatar. The dimension limit of custom avatars is 65x65 pixels and size limit is 4 KB. You can change your title or avatar in your User CP.
In other words, once you have 30 posts, you can set your own title, and once you have 300, you can use a custom avatar. :)

EDIT: Original material now obsolete...

wow, only 1500 posts to become a Deity? things are cheap nowadays... ;)

Ahh I was wondering this myself. Post Post Post our way out of Cheiftan. I have to say this is the best civ fan site. I checked 40 different sites and nothing compares to this one :king:

What's the rush anyway? Some of us just like to read and occasionally offer advice. It's more fun to Play Civ III than to talk it.

Oh well, it's still better to get custom names and avatars. We like to have our personalities shown and a lot of us like to be the best! :) So, it's just that way. 9 more posts until custom title!
