Hello, this is my first topic, and i have a question about the philistines:
they used to have a king? becaue i searched for it, and the only thing I saw is about king David and Israel.

Sorry for my bad english and thanks to all.

Not much is really known about them.

Sort of. There were kings of indian style aka Rajahs and later after islam arrived there were Sultans.

They also had consules, Princes of the First Rank, and at one point were governed by a huehuetlatoani.

:crazyeye:

They also had a Führer. They had to, they were enemies of the Hebrews damn it!

They were "Greek" city state peoples from the Aegean.

Well, the Greek hypothesis is oft-considered, but not too certain.

Goliath was probably linked to Boagrius.

The Philistines weren't that united. They were a coalition of city states, which had their own rulers, which could be referred to as kings. For instance, Abimelech is mentioned as king of Gerar, which isn't even one of the cities of the pentapolis. There are also rulers referred to as kings of Gath or Ekron, which were cities of the pentapolis.

Apocryphal books of the Tanakh infer that they were ruled by individual "princes" and were divided as such. I imagine they had some sort of system of partible inheritance going on based on these inferences.
