Questions about The BUG Mod

Did you copy the files from BULL's Assets folder to your CustomAssets folder? The BULL DLL expects certain XML files to be in place and will crash without them. There's nothing I can really do to make that less painful. :(

To get back to how you had it before, remove the BULL DLL and rename the original back to the normal name. If you haven't copied BULL's Assets into the CustomAssets folder, you'll be okay. If it still crashes, you'll need to rename your CustomAssets folder and reinstall BUG.

What about BUG mod? Can I uninstall it completely and then reapply BUFFY without needing to reinstall BTS and all the patches, etc,. All the Crashes make me think something was corrupted or maybe moved.

Yes, uninstalling BUG will get you to stock BTS. BUG doesn't overwrite any BTS files, and the only file that BULL replaces is CvGameCoreDLL.dll which you do manually, and of course you kept the original, right? :)

Okay, So I tried the BAT mod yesterday (this is the place to ask questions about this mod too, right?). Played a bit, and then I realized that the city info interface was obscuring the top three tiles of the Big Fat Cross, so I couldn't assign anyone to work them. What's up with that? did I do something silly? I don't think I did anything except install the mod...

Sorry if this has been asked before! I haven't found anything about this problem, though maybe this is because I don't know where to look :/

Thanks!

Could you please post a screenshot? There's a slider on the main screen in BAT that allows you to control the Field of View (top right corner), but it usually makes it so the city screen is zoomed way out--not way in.

Right, I should've thought of that! So here's what it looks like:

Basically, this makes it impossible to select the top three tiles to be worked. I'm not too sure what slider you're referring to... or is it on another screen?

The slider is on the main screen, not the city screen. It sits in the right corner, directly under the icons for the city advisor, financial advisor etc. If you don't see the slider, then you may have deactivated it in the BUG options. Its default value is 42. If its set to a different value in your game, then you could try setting it back to 42, and see whether that changes anything in the city screen.

That issue is a 'feature' that we cannot fix. However, once you have your second city up, you can open a city screen and then quickly flip back and forth between a city and the zoom will reset to the default for civ (42). Once you return to the main map, it will reset back to your selected value from the slider.

So it is really only a pain until you build your 2nd city.

That "Slider" is actually in the CivilizatioNIV.ini file, its called Field_of_View, the 3rd options down.

Set a figure there, or just adjust the slider, if you've removed the slider?? reset in CivilizationIV.ini file

3rd line in the configuration.

You can turn on the slider in the BUG Options screen (Map or General tab?) as well as change the value itself. Whatever value you set will affect the City Screen when it is first opened, but as Ruff said it resets to 42 temporarily while the City Screen is open if you move between cities using the arrows or the numpab keys (best way to move around cities IMHO).

However, you should be able to set a FoV that allows you to modify all city tiles without shifting cities around. I play at 69 or so and it causes the City Screen to show more tiles around the city that aren't even workable, so it doesn't cause a lack of functionality but just makes the tiles smaller. You may have inadvertently set your FoV to a small value zooming in too far for the City Screen to allow you to assign workers to tiles.

Thanks for your help, everyone! The slider fixed it. I also inadvertently found out that pressing the + key on the NUMPAD inside the city screen also "fixed" the problem.

Just pressing the '+' key? Even if you only have 1 city? The basic problem is that I need a screen redraw and I couldn't trick it into doing it when I only had 1 city. I'll text the '+' option.

How do you get unmodded BTS saves to work with BAT, and vice versa?

Unfortunately, due to BAT being a full-fledged mod this isn't possible. To continue a BAT saved game without BAT you can try renaming the "BAT Mod" folder, creating a new folder with that same name in the same spot, and launching the game. I think though that BAT's custom DLL will make this fail.

And worldbuilder saves? Do they work with both?

Just tried it with one of my (two) old Nobles' Club saves and they work! :D Cheers EF. :goodjob:

I'm having the exact same problem Mantic0re was describing. I posted it here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=416597) because it also seemed similar to AbsoluteZero's problem. I have been playing with it all night and I am 99.9% sure I followed the "custom assets" directions to a tee, but my game crashes every time I start it, and like Manti0re, if I try to load the mod, then I can get into BTS but then it crashes upon trying to load the mod.

Hi, can anybody tell me, what means icon next to the ethiopian info (at the beginning of the row)? :mischief:

There is a forced peace in effect between Ethiopia and you, which cannot be broken. This happens (for example) when a country demands something, and the other country gives in - this results in 10 turns of guaranteed peace between the two countries. It's one of the reasons why it often _does_ make sense to give in to demands - it buys you time.
