Questions & Answers

how often can i change civilizations - is it only once per game or can i switch as often as i want (when a new major civ enter the game)?

I am a newbie to RFC, having just started out with the version that ships with BtS. In the two games I started, both times my capital city "is abandoned" after a number of turns. For example, with the Japanese, on turn 97 my capital is always lost, and is converted into a number of samurai, settlers, and other units. No matter what I do (have positive stability, put extra troops in the city, raise happiness), the city is always lost on turn 97. I searched the FAQ and documentation but could not find anything. Is this an intentional, scripted event, or is it a bug in my version of RFC?

It's for sure a bug so (unless you play on Mac) I recommend downloading most recent version. And the bug seems to make your civ born again on turn 97 so if you didn't settle your capital (or a city one plot away from it) you would just gain additional units (you can consider keeping them as a cheat).

How come Korea isn't in Rhye's and Fall?

they are but as independants...
I think I read something about limited Civs in the early RFC en Korea didn't make it then as a playable civ

If you want to play the Koreans you should download RFC in Abundance... there they are playable, You can also play the HRE, Byzantium en Zulu's (I've got the feeling I'm forgetting 1 or 2....)

EDIT: Native Americans

As it grew there was the question of a) game speed and b) playability. They heighten the first as calculations grow exponentially and the map doesn´t really give them enough room to expand (versus f.e. the Portuguese in Brazil or the Dutch in South Africa...), It´s certainly not meant to not respect their place in history. It´s more gameplay case. And as stated, there´s the Modmods that fix this ;-)

I do have a Mac, and I play the Steam version of BtS. Is there anything I can do / hack / edit, other than not dropping my capital on my starting settler spot?

Why can I not move into certain independent territories? For example, in a game as the Arabs, I was able to rampage with ease across North Africa and South West Asia, but I cannot move through independent territories in Greece and Italy.

Select a unit and right click the square you want him to move to.

Is that a yes to his first question or is second??

I think it's an interesting question... but it raises another, why would you want to build a city in the Aztec spawn area?? It's a city you'll know you gonna lose unless you refuse to flip, but then you should have one hell of an garrison to defend against all of the units Aztec will receive and make up for the losses you get due to defecting troops...

I had two reasons: First, I hated to have Tenochtitlan 2 tiles near my stone city, so I just founded Tenochtitlan on the coast 1 tile w of the original Tenochtitlan.
And since this is a much better place for the city, here is my second reason: I can switch to Atzecs with good Mayan cities to be captured. :D

No it doesn't. Cities must be captured.
Thx!

that's too easy

EDIT: I just get the pun :P nice
