Umm, I know it cost 50 shield to build a Gallic swordsman, but how much gold does it cost to upgrade from warriors?

Warrior -> swordsman upgrade : 40 gold.
Warrior -> Gallic sword upgrade : 80 gold.

If you've got Leo's these costs are halved...

Thanks, I was just pondering a braveheart game. Guess I need some cash. I guess I could get enough for 4 to 6 swordsman to start the rush.

Hello to all :)
I am a newbie in your community and i have some questions.
Sorry for my stupidity but i dont know the answers :D

How i can be ensure what version and what nationality of Civ 3 PTW i have ? In the bottom left corner i dont see anything.
I ask this questions because i have a major problem.
I download the Civ3PTWv1.27f patch for both US and UK versions and i try to install it.
In both cases after the installatrion of the patch i get this error message : "This application has failed to start because IFC23.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

I use Windows XP SP1

Thanx in advance for any help :egypt:

Not to accuse you of anything, but the only time I have heard of that is when you are trying to update the warezed version of the game. As it was a pre-release there are many problems with it. If you look in your PTW directory and see a civilization3xD.exe then go buy the game.

There is a page somewhere in CFC that list the number of years each turn takes. Does anybody know off the cuff were it is?

ie from 4000BC - Something BC turns = 50 years
then a section with 25 years
then 20, and so on.

thanks in advance

Yeah, someone broke it down once. Try a search on 'turns and years' I think that'll hit it.

edit: check out this thread.

I believe this is accurate - - - [/B][/QUOTE]

EDIT: I'm not sure that is correct i have a game that jumps 20 years each turn from at least 290BC to 30BC. I am missing the other savs, its a PBEM, so i can't tell.

EDIT2: maybe the 250BC-260BC is a typo and it should be 10 years from 260AD

You're welcome.

It should also be noted that you can go into the editor and set up the turns and interval between them.

Load the editor, and select properties. On the lower part of the screen is a dialog box that looks simular to what Veers has up there, minus the years that associate with the turns. In this box, you can set up the interval and the number of turns. Default is 540, maximum is 1000. I've never played with this, so I don't know how low it goes. Hmm. . .a one turn game. . . .

edit: re: your edits, digger. . . not sure, I haven't tracked them down myself. I generally just start up and play. years vs turns doesn't matter to me. . . .

Here's another
link.
If you go to the next posts of that thread (scroll down and/or change page), there's some sheets out of which you could make some graphics - if you have the hands of an artist to fumble around with a related program.
(me just having poor claws, obviously  ).

I have been unable to perform mass upgrades since adding PTW, I have the 1.27 patched version, and still must do them one at a time. I have LW & SZ. Even without SZ, I make sure a barracks is in every city, a harbor in every port. Yet, I can not upgrade but one at a time. That is ONE unit, no matter how many in a city. I have activated them, fortified them and still I have to right click and select upgrade. The U or Shift U or Ctrl U have not worked. They do build as veterans. I have even reloaded the game, and still experience the problem. I was able to do it in Civ III by activating a unit, right click and press shift-u to do all units. It takes time late in the game to upgrade everyone individually.

What do I do

Greensleeves, a word to the wise. It's not considered a good idea to keep asking the same question in multiple threads. While here in addition to one other is probably ok any more would be frowned on, I'm sure.

I oops the 2nd one in the general thread. I meant for it to be here. I figured some people only remain in certain threads. I really don't know how to get rid of the extra one.

PM a mod (Padma, Chieftess or, umm, the other one :)) Or just edit it to say "please delete, oops" or something like that. Everyone hits post thread instead of post reply every so often.

And yes, some people check this thread as a matter of course, so here is fine I think too. But I've seen people ask the same question over and over, and didnt want you to do that.

This is a really stupid question. Does the Shift-U actually work at all on your computer? Sometimes keys get sticky or broken, and if it's not one you use a lot.....

edit: waiting to get whacked by Moonsinger who is, of course, "the other one"

Hehe, now that I'd call a well timed cross post!

See Greensleeves, that's just what happens when posting several threads on the same topic...

Nope, Shift-U works. I used it on Notepad. I may do a reload and see what happens. Should I patch Civ III, each one consecutive, then PTW the same way? Or just load PTW then each PTW patch consecutively, OR just the most recent. I had read that sometimes the latest patch didn't include prior code.

In the process of installating PTW that should patch vanilla civ to the most recent level (1.29f IIRC).

the patches are usually stand-alone/cumulative i.e. if you apply 1.21f you get 1.14f and previous too. I would install CivIII, then PTW, then 1.21f, then 1.27f if going down that route.

IF you play Civ3 i.e. put the original CD in, not the PTW one, and open an old save game, does shiftU work in that?

Can you set the turn interval in the Civ3 editor- without PTW? If so, I've never noticed the option. :(
