Could it be because you don't have the conquest victory condition turned on?

If you check F4 you can see if any other civs are still alive. If any faces appear they have settlers somewhere. If not then either you didn't turn on conquest victories (likely) or it is a bug (less likely).

Thank's Anarres. That is it exactly. I forgot that it keeps the same settings as the last game I made. So much for a quick conquest victory.

I really shouldn't be complaining about this... and I'm not really, but I am a bit puzzled. I marched my troops deep into Iroquios territory, and took the capitol. After the resistance ended, Hiawatha sued for peace, which I granted him. His citizens must've really hated being under his rule, cuz as soon as peace went down, Salamanca erupted into WLTKD!

The thing is, and hopefully someone can explain it to me, is that I don't really understand why. I mean, it's really helping me out and all, reducing the grind of building my FP to only 33 turns and all, but I can't help wonder if I'm missing something, a key component to how WLTKD works or what not. I was always under the impression that if you didn't have any unhappy people in a city with population of 6 and above, fireworks would bust out over the city (yay!). I've attached a screenshot that shows the fireworks AND THREE UNHAPPY CITIZENS! What's up wit dat?

Perhaps, if this is the FIRST turn you have occupied Salamanca, then the fireworks graphic is a 'holdover' from when the Iroquois had control. Then maybe, they will be gone when your turn goes.

P.S. Can somebody have a look @ my mandatory retirement Q?

wow - that has to be a bug, unless they changed the rules without telling anyone.

To get WLTKD (usually) you have to fulfil the following:

1) Size 6 or greater (this is set in the editor)
2) No unhappy citizens
3) At least twice as many happy citizens as content
4) City must not have a food deficit

Thanks Cannon, but nope, it's the third turn. The first two turns were spent with two resisters and the rest of the population unhappy. The resistance ended on the same turn that the Iroquios sued for (and got) peace, though.

Edited to add: Thanks Annares, that's what I thought! Very weird... though I really shouldn't complain about a bug that works in my favor, huh?

Well, the only reason it doesn't make sense is because there's unhappy citizens there......I'm puzzled.

P.S. put it in the Unofficial SOTD thread. lol

W/o any given information, I would have said that it's lowering the lux tax, selling market and/or cutting off lux access, but...

:hmm:Sonds like a buggy thing w/ resistors.

Does/did WLTKD continue?
Also, does the number of actually shown happy/content/unhappy citizens make any sense, regarding lux access, lux tax, etc?

hi, just a couple of questions....
firstly, is there a score bonus for winning the game, or for being an ally of a civilization that wins?
secondly, is there a penalty for changing the tech advance while it is still in progress?
thx

Bonus for winning, dependent on # of turns to go to the end and difficulty level. (And size of map???)

Yes, You lose all the accumulated science beakers as soon as you exit the F6 screen. So you can flip back and forth ON the F6 page, but once you decide and exit that screen, anything spent on abandoned research is totally lost, even if you go back and start that tech again. Not a good thing to do.

NB It's the same for workers. If it takes 24 turns to clear a jungle, say, and you do 23 turns, then stop, it'll be 24 when you start the next time too.

hi :à)

I've read that breaking treaties is very bad for rep. But if I break only gpt that an ia give to me, is there a bad rep too?.. I'm sure I don't trade ressources or gpt with it.

Arf... it's an ia exploit ^^

Well, i'm going to take a look again in "strategy & tips" ;à)

I can't find it (get bored ^^) . I will test it to be sure and reload if the rep goes down.. ;à)

Thx Madscot ;à)

[edit] it's oki i think, i break it and could trade gpt for ai's gold the next turn.. (civ3 patch 1.07f)

Hi all .
I don't know if this question belongs gere .
Yesterday I've noticed that my PTW CD gets old , scratches and such , so I've decided to make a copy for any emergency case .
Well , back-up CD don't work . Am I not supposed to have a right for one back-up copy ?

@leha:

You should be able to get a new CD by sending back your scratched one, but you better contact Atari or the distributor in your country first to make sure. I've heard that they can also tell you how to make a make up copy as long as you can offer a proof of purchase, but I don't know if this is true. :)

Thanks for reply . Well , my old copy is still working , It's just I've read here some posts where CD's break , disappear , or get scratched and become unusable . So I've decided , you know , to make back-up . I know that this way lots of people can get product for free , but usually companies allow to make 1 back-up copy in the lisence agreement .

how does climate, temperature, and age affect the map tiles?

For climate and temperature...
Medium/medium is "normal." The rainfall affects the total number of deserts/tundra (more rainfall meaning less d/t), and jungles/forests (more rainfall meaning more j/f). Temperature affects the relationship between the amount of deserts to the amount of tundra (higher in favor of desert), and the relationship between the amount of jungles to the amount of forests (higher favoring jungles).

As for age,
3 billion years - Lots of hills/mountains
4 billion years - Average amount of hills/mountains
5 billion years - Not so many hills/mountains

Hope that helps :)
