It shows that each of the units shown with the content face are making (or at least has the ability to make) unhappy citizens content. i.e. they is acting as a military policemen. This will only happen in governments such as Monarchy, Despotism, Fascism and Communism. (Have I forgotten any?) The maximum number of MPs is dependant upon the which of these governments you are in.

It does not alter their ability to fight in any way.

Edit: I'm pretty confident that it does not make them happy. I'm possibly being pedantic but I can think of why this subtle difference could have an effect.

I thought you can't have any military police in democracy :confused:/
That's right, you can't.

I'm now confused. What am I missing or misunderstanding from your post? I have attached a ss from your game. Demo at the top with no content faces on the garrison; despot below with content faces on the garrison. What did you mean?

Are you sure you were zoomed in looking at a city whose country was in Democracy??? The short answer is, no, no MPs in Demo.

Tone is correct that the military with the happy faces at the bottom of the City View are MPs. If you are in, let's say despotism, and if you had 4 archers garrisoned in a town, 2 would have the MP happy faces and 2 would not, because despotism only allows 2 MPs per town.

If you were in Demo, Aceman, but looking at the City View of another civ where you'd built an embassy or were just investigating, you'd see the result for the government of the civ you were looking at...not your own.

Edit: x-post with Tone

Get pediacon for happy faces, it makes it so much easier to see the happy faces at a glance. It is in the creation forum.

As you can see the happy face occurs if the garrison is acting as an MP. This is governmen specfic as was stated by Tone.

Well if you can't have military police in democracy why did you list it here  ???. I am a little confused.
Aceman, look back at the post and quote you showed above. Tone had listed DESPOTISM and you are speaking of DEMOCRACY...two entirely different governments.

Edit: X-post with Aceman catching his own mistake. :D

You didn't misunderstand anything, Sorry that was my fault.

Once again that was my fault. I always get miked up with democracy and despotism. I probably just looked to quickly and saw democracy instead of despotism. Sorry for the mistake this was not intentional :).

No need to apologize Aceman. We've all mis-spoken at one time or another or read something that isn't really there. I've done it many times. :p

Glad to have you here with us and asking good questions. :)

Thanks for all the quick answers to all of you who have helped me ;).

gmaharriet: No worries, I'll be more carefull next time .

Is there a certain thread where someone can post a save and have people critique their game? If so, then I would definitely like to do that. Also, I'm not so sure how to upload a save game.

@sercer88: Most people just start their own thread in Strategy & Tips or sometimes in General Discussions. Someone will see it after a while.

To attach a save to a post read the quote or the response and choose the one that suits your mood!

I heard that Australia and Switzerland are hidden somewhere in the game. Does anyone know how to access thosecivilizations?

You heard wrong

*Austria* is a 32nd Civ, fully formed, but not normally available.

You have to go to the editor, and "turn off" some other civ, and insert Austria in their place. I'm sure there is discussion on how to do this, buried in the forums here. Search for it. ;)

Because my science isn't progressing well i have a question about science. Does the rate of science have anything to do with commerce that the city's are producing? Because that might be the reason why my science isn't so good.

Science is simply part of commerce. Commerce is split up into science, luxes and taxes. If your commerce is crap, the split-up will be too.

Oh i see. Commerce is split up into the percentages you choose on the two sliders science and tax and luxury. So the more commerce the more the allocated amount will go into science depending on the percentage. And the percent that's left over will go into tax. If there is any left over.

I have a question now, when the AI starts with bonus settlers, like on demigod and up, do they all start in a stack on one tile, or do the settlers start spread out and settle in place?
