Yes, this is correct, but you can have 11 citizens, including 3 unhappy, 2 happy and 6 content and the city will riot... This gives 3/11 unhappy...

So is this the only difference between happy and content citizens?

And another... what requirements must be met to advance to the next age?

The info centre says "the new rules are that, in order to advance to the next section of the tech tree, you pretty much have to complete everything in the section before it, except those arts or the intellectual pursuits."

I thought I had read elsewhere that you could advance without more than just arts or intelectual pursuits.

Has it got something to do with those techs marked with the Ø symbol? Perhaps you have to know all those without this symbol?

Yes, sorry guys.

My examples worked, but my rules were only half correct - you can also have more unhappy than happy.

But, anytime you do have more than half your citizens being unhappy, it will obviously outnumber any happy citizens.

That's it. Once you know all the techs *not* so marked, you advance to the next age.

Is there an easy way to see how long is remaining on your deals with the other civs. I think it's tedious to call up the other guy, click on make a deal and go to active to see the turns remaining.

Also, did anyone else notice resistors don't starve, ever?

Go to your F4 screen, click on the 'Details' tab on the right part of the screen, and then click on the advisor.

Or you could use Civ Assist II (link in my sig) to find out what deals are going on.

As for the resistors, it's been that way back to the original Vanilla Civ3 release.

The only other difference is in your final score. Unhappy citizens don't count at all towards it, and content ones only count half of what happy ones do.

Thanks again for all the answers - great forum you all have going here, a pleasant change from some of the others I have spent time at

I spent some time reading the manual this morning and cleared up most of my remaining questions but there is one thing I cannot find an answer for - in the info window next to govenment type there are three numbers in brackets e.g. (4.6.0) - what do they mean?

@ General_Chaos: You set the percentages for Science and Happiness (Luxury) in the F1 Screen (Hit F1 Key at any time).

Whatever you don't use on Science/Happiness will apply to Commerce (Gold/Tax).

So, in your example, the Science Slider is set to 60% and the Happiness Slider is set to 0%........this causes the "invisible" Commerce "Slider" to be set at 40%. (viz. 100-60-0) ;)

Once you have been here for 30 days (almost done for you) and have 30 posts (done for you), you can change your title to something custom as well as have a custom avatar. You can change these all in your User CP.
