I went to Amazon and realized the [c3c] cost $49.99, and Civ3Complete cost $29.99, so are those good prices, or are they a litte high price?

They're high prices especially concidering that civ 4 has just been released.

NOTE: I bought Civilization III - Conquests for £7.99 from www.play.com

Since Civ3-Complete includes the original Civ3, Play The World, and Conquests all in one package, $29.99 isn't *too* bad a price. ;) But if you wait another year, you can probably find it for $9.99. Then again, if you wait another year, you might be able to find Civ4 some places for $9.99. ;)

Gosh, haven't been here in ages!

Quick query please: I hit the city limit on a standard rules, custom map game. The game was being played on this linked map, with about 16 civs in total: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=3281023#post3281023

Can someone please explain the city limit rule parameters please? Or link me to an explanation? Thanks and god bless all you kind folk who regularly drop in here to give advice.

You had better hope none of the denizens of the Civ4 Forums find this post...my gawd it is a brawl up there! ;)

You should be able to find pre-owned copies of C3-Complete on Ebay or maybe even Barnes&Noble or Amazon.com much cheaper...I bought it new last winter for 34.99...and it would have been a steal at $50 IMHO...

Last Xmas, Conquests was selling for $9.99......Amazon I think.

Xmas is coming! ;)

I got a problem :(
I read this detailed instruction of adding new units...
I did everything it was said there
I added this "Bismark" - a battleship created for germans... but when I tested it in debug mode, it was just ordinary battleship with the stats I gave it and as an additional unit...

what might have I done wrong? any ideas?

I took these original battleship.pcx files, from civ3 art/units and put it in my new scenario, so the ship would like a battleship in civilopedia and in creation menu... maybe this affected it somehow?

If you got the unit to appear in debug mode without crashing, you did it right and it is using the stats you gave it in the editor. The artwork for the civilopedia and build menu is elsewhere. The build menu art is art\units\units_32.pcx and the civilopedia art in art\civilopedia\icons\units (for units).

If you pointed the pediaicons.txt file to the battleship art, it will look just like a battleship but have the different stats as per the editor.

It's a bit difficult to analyse with the limited amount of information.

A question: Did you tell the scenario to look for files in the mod's directory first (under scenario -> scenario options -> scenario search folders)? Because if you didn't and you name the unit the same then it will find the ordinary battleship and not the one that you placed in your mod's directory.

(you were talking about the instructions in this thread?

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=71114 )

The best place to ask these kinds of modding questions is actually the creation and customization subforum. The experts are in that forum.

Well...
I'm off to sleep right now, but I think watorrey told what I did wrong, I know I made this #Animename_PRTO_Bismark , but there was supposed to be sth under it aswell, am I right?(just the name of the new unit) I must have left this unchanged - just battleship...
The instructions in the thread were so difficult to follow at that point... 3 different ways of doing the same thing were given and I must have got confused...

oh well... if I wake up tomorrow I'll give it a try :P

why does everything have to be so hard?? it would be easier just to copy-paste the folder with the new unit to conquests/art/units and then start to play :P
all this messing with the editor and the pediaicons.txt is just awful :P

and Ronald_Johansen - yes I told the scenario to look for files from my scenario first... it was written in the instructions that civ just replaces all the missing files with deafult ones...and If I hadn't told it to look from there first, it would have put all files deafult =)

:scan: :D Alright - I'm pretty new to this site.

My question is - is there a Conquests Culture Group article? I found one for Civ III on gamefaqs and I googled civfanatics and I can't find an updated culture group list. little help?

yes........
Can you elaborate please? If it's possible to alter the city limits - how? And what are the variables regarding map size / civ numbers / anything else that should be noted? Thanks :)
