Nope, they'll freak out all the same.

Personally, I tend to kick the AI out when they do the same. They'll go to a river inside your territory near theirs, and start irrigating to a city, disregarding what ever you've done with the terrain. And this isn't an act of war....

what are military police? does a reference to "MP's" just mean a unit which i've placed in a given city?

Yes, that's what it means.

Republic and Democracy in the epic game don't get this bonus, which makes an unhappy pop content. Which government you're in determines what the maximum number of MPs is.

So if - example - monarchy has a Mp limit of 3, and i place 4 soldiers in a city - that will cause unhappiness/unrest?

No. Those three soldiers will make three of the pop from unhappy to content. This has the effect of making the civil disorder not happen as quickly.

So* trying to understand this * in my 11 capital I should put 5-6[ half ] soldiers to keep disorder undercontrol?

That's the basic idea, however there is a limit to how many MPs are used for each government. I don't have the figures handy, but I think it's 2 in despotism, 3 in monarchy, and 4 in communism. Anything more than that for those governments doesn't make any more people content/happy.

The exact figures can be found in the editor, it is modable. Under the gov't tab, if memory serves.

Thankie! :king:

Communism it is!
Ironically, in an 8 page political quiz I was chucked out to be a Protectionist Marxist..:D

Shouldn;t this be in the NESing forum? We will be glad to help...

Normally I'd counsel against opening more than one thread/post on the exact same subject, but in this case I think a thread in the NES forum would be appropriate.

[ Thanks Watorrey! ]
Thanks :)
My WIn is in French which further complicates the problem. Anyways I have:
GeForce4 MX 440
Is that good enough?

what happens when i disband a military unit (and are workers considered "units")?

if something does happen--besides the unit just disappearing--do different things happen depending on where i disband from? say, in a city or in enemy territory for example?

i just read somehwere that building a worker kills off 1 pop in the town/city where it is produced, and a settler knocks off 2. is this true?! why the hell did they make that rule? pop doesn't go down for other units too, does it?!

1. Yes
2. Don't know....ask Sid
3. No...........except if you use "Forced Labor" to speed Production! ;)
(Forced Labor occurs under Despotism, Feudalism, Fascism & Communism.)

On the same tab in dxdiag is the info on the driver version. Note that and go to http://www.nvidia.com and get a newer driver for your video card. Directions on installation should be available at thier site someplace.
Mmmmm...... if in French Pilote means driver then I got nv4_disp.dll from August 2004. When I tried to get a driver fromt their site (GeForce Graphics Card Driver for XP only) I got this file "81.94_forceware_winxp2k_international.exe". Tried to install it and got a warning that it did not pass Win compatibility test and it was advised to stop installation.....
I know this is .... which driver exactly should I get? Did I look it up right? What do you have there? (that may help me figure out what to look for) Once again :thanx: and

If you disband a unit (yes, Workers are units ;)) in a city, then some portion of their Shield cost is returned to that city (one quarter, IIRC) and is applied toward whatever that city is currently building.

Workers and Settlers are the only two units that cost population to build.

It sounds like you looked it up right. Check thier driver archive for the latest WHQL (i think that's it) driver. Actually the warning just means the version hasn't passed certain microsoft testing yet and you can probably use it ok. Since you have an older card, you don't necessarily need the latest driver either. I have a GeForce Ti 4200 running driver version 45.23 which is plenty good enough for civ3 although i haven't tried any newer games.
